  1. I've had one for what must be 6 years now. it's one of the older bushmasters. on mine the rail atop the upper came Off The upper! it turns out they use a screw to hold it onto the receiver and mine somehow stripped without my knowing it existed.
long story short is a had to use a bunch gorilla glue and sanding the excess.
It's pretty sturdy but I just run a BUIS on it because I don't want to break the glue.

other than that… lmao. it's been good to me. it's Very light.
if I ever need a KISS rifle I've got it

  2. Mine ended up having the upper and lower replaced under warranty. The rail started to separate from the upper the first time out, 100 rounds and it was no longer able to be accurate due to the loose top rail. They replaced the upper with an aluminum mil spec. The lower had to be replaced because after getting it back from repair I took it out and put 200 down the pipe and the grip came off the gun while shooting because it stripped itself while I was shooting. They replaced it with an aluminum xd-15 e2s lower on it. 300 rounds and it had to go twice to get repaired, not just repaired but the upper and lower replaced due to the crappy polymer parts. Since it has been great and is still very lightweight. I won't sell it because it is great now, but I would never recommend one to someone else due to mine having to be completely rebuilt by the factory. They even told me the "carbon" parts were crap and they were doing all repairs to aluminum receivers, that is from the manufacturer:(

  3. I sure appreciate the information! From what I understand, Bushmaster bought the design like 15 years ago from a smaller company that was having a few issues with it. Bushmaster apparently beefed up the design (which you can tell by the addition of a forward assist and dust cover, earlier versions lacked that) and haven't had issues with it other than the odd cracked forward hinge which has happened a few times if the rifle is dropped while "open", like when it is field stripped.

  4. dropped mine onto cement floor while unhinged n cleaning. front hinge (port) struck ground and broke. could still close, but sent whole rifle to Bushmaster and free of charge replaced entire lower. other than no fixed sites, love it. good budget rifle.

  5. Does anyone know what the material manufacturing process is for the carbon polymer they use in the upper? That's a pretty vague term. Carbon fiber bike frames and high end vehicle driveshafts sustain MUCH greater forces than their aluminum and steel counterparts but they're also constructed of many layers of woven carbon fiber fabric and require a very labor intensive construction process . These uppers must be a some sorted of molded process to keep the price so low, but what's the stuff they're actually using?

  6. I have seen videos on youtube that when the barrel gets warm it becomes less accurate. have you noticed that issue? the reason I ask is a friend HATES his and wants to sell it to me for $200 BRAND new. I tried to sight it in and couldn't. Yes it has the red dot that came with it.

  7. One of my best friends is considering buying this rifle for his first AR and called me the other day to ask me about them . I'm going to steer him to your video , thanks for posting it .

  8. I installed a drop in 3.5 single stage trigger and an eotech 512 on the same platform and they are well worth the price for add ons. trigger was $130 off amazon and with a little work(basic stuff) fit and works perfect. I have had a ton of comments on how its crap because its not metal, but when they actually fire it the response is the same, " damn thats light". I had one failure to extract as well and it was also Tula steel, glad to hear thats a problem with the ammo and not this underrated well built firearm.

  9. Thankyou much for this video … Today is NOV 19 2015. I can buy After rebate a Bushmaster OFC 16 M4 with chrome lined barrel for $550… I was looking at the Ruger 556 for $700… I don't know what to do. Please help 🙂 And Thankyou much..

  10. Great review, thanks for posting, Blue. What size groups does this rifle shoot? Have you ever considered using this rifle on duty since it performed so well at the Safari Land instructor's course?
