In this video we take a look at the CMMG Banshee MK57 with the Dead Air Mask on loan from Silencer Shop. This is an amazing little rifle and see why it may be the best platform for the 5.7 round

  1. The 5.7mm is such a soft shooter. I too have made hits on steel out to 300 meters. It's so easy to do with, I did it with RMR on a PS90 SBR offhand. Except guess how much energy that bullet (40gr Vmax) has when it gets to 300 meters? Less than 128 ft-lbs of energy. Like 79 ft-lbs when its the American Eagle 40gr. I know that's not the point of this round or the video.

  2. P90>Banshee every day. Better reliability, fully ambi, no fidgeting with a stock, higher capacity, longer barrel for overall length, plus aesthetically the p90 looks better. The 5.7 round was designed specifically for 10.4” barrel and is very velocity-dependent. Good video, but I’m sticking with my ps90.

  3. The 5.7 is such an incredible round. It’s amazing to me it hasn’t had more adoption. I love my PS90 but the AR platform is better. Great to see CMMG driving adoption of a round as unpopular but as superior (in many ways, not all). I love the long range of can switch to without a major re-zero. I love that at high velocities, as a home defense round, it breaks down through walls so easily yet is so easy to keep quite and avoid over penetration. I love the PS90 bullpup design to keep it short without an SBR stamp, yet, I have many stamps so that’s not an issue for me but has been a BIG advantage for me. The 50 rounds of the PS90 when I’m meeting someone naked or in a pair of shorts/underwear has been highly convenient. No doubt this will become available with the AR platform with some adoption.

  4. I have 1000 rounds through mine & love it. CMMG started shipping with Promags because they were having trouble with FN (gen 2) mags so did I, caused jamming. After using Promags, no hiccups with 800 rounds. This was affirmed by CMMG tech also.

  5. great video as usual. i have an AR platform 5.7 called the "AR57". 50 round ps90 magazine and a dummy pmag sits in the mag well to catch brass. has been reliable and accurate. i'll shoot you a picture on twitter if you want.

  6. You make a lot of good points, but I still think that when it comes to real world PDW usage, the P90 wins out by far. Most notably, it's the best when it comes to compactness, which it could be argued is the most important feature of a PDW. Of course, if you have a PS 90 with a 16 inch barrel, you're not going to get that. But this isn't the real thing. Plus, if you do have that full auto capability, that 50-round magazine is going to start counting for a whole lot more. I don't really have a need for a new 5.7 and I have essentially stopped shooting around almost all together, so I'm probably going to pass this one up. But a good review none the less

  7. Tho it is a pretty nice set up, I'm sticking with my PS 90. Something about 50 rounds that makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Since I own the 5.7 Mark 2 pistol also, I can holster my pistol and carry my PS 90 and get 70 rounds without reloading.

  8. Daddy likey. Ive been $avin up for a cz Bren , or a POF p415 but after seeing this, they might be moving back in the pack. I have always loved the 5.7 round but didn’t like the platforms offered… til now
Thanks again for the nice work

  9. I like 5.7×28 and even kind of want a Mk57, but: 1. I'd rather do 1 mag change in the PS90 than 4 in the Banshee. 2. The PS90 factory rail is embarrassingly unusable, but aftermarket replacements (e.g. Design Machine) exist that position red dots comfortably low. 3. The only thing 5.7 currently has over .223 in a standard feed AR-15 is less blast. A 5.7 AR could be lighter than a .223, but the Mk57 isn't.

  10. 🙄
People keep ignoring the strength of the P90.

    It’s not the round.
10” barrel in the shortest & most controllable possible configuration that fires at 900 rpm.

& just happens to have one of the largest standard capacity of any magazine fed weapons.
