Thanks this is the exact problem. I have been having!!! Recoil and then it turns off. How long did it take for them to get the replacement kit to you? How much was it? And did it effect your zero?
A couple of years ago I refurbished my 512 with new buffers and springs. This weekend, during a battery change, one of the springs went missing. Ugh. I hope I can replace the spring with something at the hardware store. I love my Holosight. I've had it since 2007. It should be an easy fix, though.
I have an Eotech from at least 10 years ago. It has no writing on it re: a model # or other identifier. It has printing that says:
For Law Enforcement /Military Use I think it's a 512 but the design is completely different. Each battery compartment has it's own little rubber buffer that holds a spring. I hadn't used my AR in awhile and when the EOTech wouldn't turn on after I put in the batteries I went to try some new batteries and one of the rubber buffers fell out. Luckily, I found it and got it working with new batteries. If I ever lost one of these buffers, I'd be SOL, because there is no rubber cement to hold the buffer in place. Be aware of this issue, if you have the same kind of design.
Has Eotech rectified this problem with their newer sights? Hopefully they have in order to prevent having to order repair kits.

I did serve…but back in the late 80's early 90's, the eotech was given to me by a close friend who has served more recently overseas…i will pass your thanks along to him…and thanks for the sentiment either way !

i watched this video several months ago…my eotech just had a similar issue and i remembered this video and have contacted L3 for that very kit.
i have a 552 that's seen a couple deployments ,it's time for a service !

It was still shutting off! I sent it out for service, it is scheduled to be delivered on tuesday. I think it will b sold on ebay…lol.
