Building an AR-308 on a Budget – Part 2 (Aero Precision Lower Parts Kit Installation)

This is the second video of a series following me building an AR-308 on a budget and shows the lower parts kit installation.

The AR is DPMS format and the series follows me building it part by part from stripped receivers to the completed project. I got the Aero Precision lower parts kit from schuylerarmsco.com and a DPMS receiver extension tube from a local shop. You can find the receiver extension tube at midwayusa.com. I hope you enjoy!

  1. Thanks a lot for the video. This made my lower population a lot easier. Yours is probably the best video for this I've seen. Breaking it into little chunks was a great idea. I really like how you showed the different components before installing them at each step. And you didn't include any mistakes you may have made. There are a couple other videos almost as good as yours where they made mistakes at different steps. Being new to building ARs, I wouldn't have known their installs were wrong, and would have had to undo some work. Good video.

  2. Just finished assembling my Aero Precision M-5 lower using just this video as a reference. Thanks so much for the guidance–it was incredibly clear and helpful. By far, installing the front take-down was the biggest PITA: My detent flew out at least four times! Fortunately I managed to find it each time in the recesses of my garage. I can't wait to install the rest of the parts using your videos. Keep up the good work!

  3. Great video. A dab of grease on the safety detent spring keeps it in the handle when inverting to install. A clevis pin ($1.00 at local hardware store) works well to retain the piviot pin until you insert the pin. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Someone help! My safety selector spring isn’t strong enough or my detent isn’t long enough. Once together my safety doesn’t engage. But if I take the grip off and use a small Allen key to put pressure on the back of the detent it works perfect. What should I do? I just either need longer detent which I can’t find or a stronger spring, which I also can’t find.

  5. OUTSTANDING instruction video: This is the best lower AR type installation instruction video I've seen on the internet. Straight and to the point, good lighting, clear and good sound. This video can be used to assemble, AR-10, AR-15, LR-3O8 so on and so forth.πŸ”«πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ”«πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ”«πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

  6. I just want to say thank you for this series. I just put together a very similar M5 (6.5 Creedmoor, 20" barrel) and your series made all very simple. The shots are great, the explanations are concise, and no nonsense talk. Looking forward to similar new endeavors from you and some time in the range with my new M5 for me.

  7. hey thanks for a detailed quality video. just finished my first ar10 lower. one trick that helps me with the front pivot pin is to push it in with an Allen key then use the tip of a razor blade to hold it

  8. I have to say your video help me a lot. With the aero 308. I hope to see more videos in the future hopefully from your channel. Keep up the good work in the great attention to detail you have in it. That stuff will sell like hotcakes for their new builders
