In this video I demonstrate why the AR15/M16 platforms have a Forward Assist, and how it works. My rifle is the Dominion Arms 556.

  1. Armchair observation, never used an AR. But if the bolt is in battery and you bash the forward assist anyway (as in the military drills) surely this causes wear on the specific (the last one I guess) notch on the side of the bolt, the very one you would need if you in fact did have a malfunction in most cases.

  2. The “drill” is not to “push” the forward assist like a sissy, but to actually slap the slide release with the right hand and then literally palm slap the forward assist like you mean business. The USMC teaches that way during combat drills. Don’t baby the rifle. Just like an MP-5 sub gun, you slap the slide release silly like a pimp slapping a working girl.

  3. Should have stuck with the original AR-15 design and stick gunpowder. Cheap ass American War industry thought they would save money and line their pockets with cash by using stock piled ball powder. Then instead of going back to stick powder, they changed the design of the rifle and then told to clean it all the time.. Stubborn ass American slobs, getting soldiers killed for their greed!

  4. I wish I would’ve known this sooner. I was hunting hog and saw a monster but realized my gun wasn’t chambered. The noise of slamming it shut caused it to run away. I could’ve slowly let it down then pushed it the rest of the way forward.
