Cmmg 22lr Conversion Problems

Some issues I had with a CMMG 22 Conversion Bolt Carrier Group. Honestly it seems the issue is just with this one kit. Everyone who owns one seems to have a lot of success and reliability with them and I think this is just a fluke. This shooting session is using the polymer charging handle made by CMMG specifically for 22 ARs and this kit. Still did not remedy the problem. The casings were being ejected
upward into the charge handle and getting stuck inside the gun preventing the next round from being cycled properly. I am still considering the newer EVO model as this is an older model. If any of you guys have ideas please let me know. Ammo used was CCI Mini Mag, CCI Blazer, Federal Bulk, Aguila Super Hyper Velocity (?), and there was some Remington thrown in the mix. All had issues. Mags were the stock CMMG mag and two standard AR 22 15 round mags (brand new).

  1. Things I have done to improve my kit(Target Master).
-Polish the feed ramp and inside barrel
    -Bought a better ejector
    -Bought the CMMG Charge Handle
-Cut bolt return spring(way too strong)
-Added a spring to the 10rd BDM follower
Now it runs as it should, I don't know if the slight differences in manufacturers of kits and AR's are the problem, but some have success and others don't.  This is the process it took me to get a decent 22LR Conversion Kit.

  2. I have a Colt AR and have similar issues you describe in addition two of these, the alpha model, have both failed. One had the seam split in the forward casing and the other had part of the rail break off. They replaced the first one and I am trying to get the second replaced now. I also have a hard time removing it from the bolt chamber after extensive use. I would love to try one of the more expensive brass and stainless models over the anodized one. Tried variety of ammo also.

  3. You may need different ammo. CCI chambers VERY hard in most guns. My Anschutz target rifle (1914) HATES cci. I have to jam it in before I have to close the bolt or it will not chamber. elly or eelly club chambers fine though.

  4. Is yours an older model? I think the new EVO model is better least that's what I hear. I wouldn't even mind that much if I had to use specific ammo since 22lr is so cheap, but this thing wasn't eating anything.

  5. Well that's unfortunate. I never picked up the conversion kit for mine when I had it, but I did end up buying a .22 AR-15 for plinking. My best idea would be to clean everything again and lube it up.. :/
