  1. he didn't unload shit he just enabled the bolt catch what if u hit the Forward assist or bumped it and wasn't aware now your firearm is loaded again what a demonstration thumbs down

  2. No, we don't pick up ammo from the ground.  Several reasons for this.  First, we have any number of guns on the line and who knows what calibers.  Putting .40S&W in a .45 is not advised.  I've got some photos I show during class of blown up guns, never fun.  Second, in the AR the firing pin is free floating, so it dimples the primer when you load.  Repeatedly reloading that round can lead to failure to fire, breaking the crimp and pushing the bullet back in the case resulting in a overpressure situation or dumping all the powder in the action when you try to clear it out.  As my friend Walt like to point out, this is training ammunition.  Once the action strips it out of the magazine it has fulfilled its purpose.  It does have to be fired to have training value.  Malfunction clearances, loading/unloading will result in a certain amount of ammo on the deck, that's just how it is.  Those of you who can't stand leaving a live round on the deck can pick them up on Friday before you go home.  If you do manage to blow up a gun as a result, please send me a pic add to my collection

  3. To unload, remove the mag. Use your support hand (left)to cycle the charging handle. Lift up slightly with your extended right trigger finger. That will manipulate your BAD lever and lock open the bolt. Sweet.
Traveling and going to rent an AR 15?  Bring a spare BAD lever and allen or torx key  in your pocket!
I actually prefer the ambi bolt release made by Tactical Link vs the Magpul B.A.D. lever (Battery Assist Device) an ambidextrous device.

  4. 😑 took a training class there, these guys are range Nazis. In a big way I don't blame them because they have an insurance company to keep happy and I'm sure they've gotten their share of idiots through the door. But the freaking hammer you on the small stuff. If you don't feel with your finger which side of the mag your round is on they'll go off on you. Did the majority of my other training with Blackwater back when it still was Blackwater. They're professional but still good ol' boys who realize everyone trains different and as long as you're safe they didn't give me alot of shit.
