Wish there was a 1k range around me! Looks like a great round, I'm interested to see what happens with it… I have a few other things on the wishlist above 224, but its definitely on there! Great review bud
We have a 1300 in Oklahoma
Just had my barrel ordered the other day.. What scope you using?
WTF IS GOING ON HERE……🙊🙊🙊🙊🙉🙉🙉🙈😁😁😁☺☺
Currently building one of these. Can’t wait for it to be finished.
Is that a 20 inch barrel
How much does the ammo cost ?
how much you got in that rifle and scope?
Hey Scootch, which reticle did you have in the leupold scope, they make numerous ones
bought me a .224 valkyrie the other day and i use the ballistic tip rounds, they have a higher velocity.
Should replace and be a New round for the military
What barrel length would provide good harmonics for this caliber?
Anmo wise theres nothing new here,, which means availability wont be a problem.
LoL 😂 at 4:28 that look when asked about BC total confusion. Like your videos but claiming you had no data well make it. You have a chronograph and you have a smart phone and you can get the BC for the bullet. Bingo you got data. Still a good video 👍 no hate
If you are looking for long range precision you need long bullet (high BC) with fast twist.A 24" bbl, at 6.5:1 rifling pitch might get a long 90-100 gr. bullet down range to 1000 without tumbling. Anything less…..I doubt it. Might as well back off to 77 gr. MK262 and use a 1:7 twist 20 or 22" bbl. AR-15.
What is the twist on the barrel. What is the length on the barrel. Some clowns are reboring chamber on AR-15 barrel stock and shooting 69-77 gr. bullets and calling it Valkyrie. If it is not 6.5:1 twist, long barrel, and 90 gr. or more, it is just an expensive AR-15.
did anybody else notice north paw to south paw and they still rung steel? that is amazing!! I still want to see the 5 gallon bucket at 1000 yards.
I am looking for my first long range gun. I am down to 6.5 creed or the 224 Valkyrie. I am new to riffle shooting. Any ideas out there for what I should get?
That's..frickin impressive.. I literally just bought my first 5.56/.223 AR a week ago… I'm not a distance shooter but man, I'll be looking up prices on some new uppers soon! Haha.
What scope were you using. I’m about to buy a nightforce aracar 5×25
how about putting a 5 gallon bucket of water at 1000 yards and shooting it. no lid on it. just a bucket full of water. it would show the power of the round at 1000 yards if you could split screen it with a camera at the bucket and one looking over the shooters shoulder. that would be a true test. I have one with a cmmg 24 inch heavy barrel with a matched bolt head. I haven't had the weather to test it for anything but function. I will say i'm impressed so far.
Dang Sooch00! That is some sweet shooting. Awesome platform. Great Rig set up.
We did not sseee anything
Yawning zzzz
OMG…really? No data/dope? ffs sootch did you ever hear of JBM? It's online and free, you could also download an app like shooter to you phone. You have approx fps and BC so with the input of altitude, temp and baro you can get your drops. The app/solver may even have the bullet in it's library
That rifle is ridiculously long…what's the point. That's more unwieldy than a 7.62 You might as well have a 7.62 16" to get to 1K, more energy too. People are always trying to use the wrong tool for the job.
Just great!
When are you going to do the full review. I really am looking forward to it
I would like to see or compare energy on impact at 1000 6.8 vs 6.5 Grendel vs .224 all being in the AR15 platform that’s a shootout range day All with the recommended barrel length
BANG!…………………………………..ping. 😅
twist rate on that rifle? very impressive
Can you tell us about the scope? Manufacture? Etc
Geezus christ, whatever happened to just doping the wind and getting on target the old fashioned way. Who sits around bragging about not having computer data to get you on target. Making marksmen out of morons
I get a hard on when it comes to long range shooting. Wtf, that things looks so wierd, effective as hell. Great job smacking that target
So awesome!!!
You should do a sleeper ar build. Make it look like an m16 but all the internals are top notch
I want. cool that I've seen American Eagle 75gr ammo for 10.99 locally. hopefully it sticks around and ammo becomes plentiful.
I'm sorry … this cartridge it's a true battle cartridge. It is just fantastic. If I can't get a Savage upper to go with my Savage lower I'm just going to have to build one or pick one up at Palmetto State Armory and if necessary replace the barrel.
I got to tell you that SPC cartridge… I thought of running a .257 projectile through it. And actually believe that was a smart idea. This 224 Valkyrie is a stroke of Genius. Thank you Federal.
I'll keep the 6mm Grendel and 6mm SPC, no that's not a typo, 6mm (.243 on Grendel and SPC brass) out does the 224 Valkyrie both Terminally and Externally ballistics wise…but this makes sense for the range hero's out there.
whats barrel life like?
and is 24" bbl necessary for 1000+ yd performance?
what would a 20" or even an 18" bbl get you as far as consistent long range accuracy?
Great shooting! Save me the brass!
I would have been nice to see the shot hit the target.
Hey Sootch, been curious about this round for a while. I did hear where the name Valkrie came from, but I have lost the info in my head (spinal cord surgery). When the .204 Ruger came out ammo was everywhere, now it's harder to find and more expensive. Do you foresee ammo difficulties with the Valkrie? You have got to like a company that makes nothing but ammo! Good on ya Federal. Side note: Your thoughts on ceracoat finishes, is it as durable as claimed – or will it chip off like paint? Thank You Sootch. Oh ya, near stroke when you said "70 inches less drop"!!! Looking forward to complete review
I love my .243 I guess fans don't talk about it because we(fans) like our ammo available, and people rag on it because its a big case with a 6mm round…shoots 1/4 minute angle with 3800fps, 55gr nosler bt round. 1 clean hole. 🙂 1/14 twist, 28in Douglas on a dirty old mauser with a timney trigger. An expert assembled it for me as a birthday gift.
Have you tried the .277 Wolverine?
