Here I show how to install a barrel on an AR15 upper receiver in my 300 Blackout build. I now know the value of roll pin holders, that gas tube roll pin was a pain to get started!!

MY first upper, 300, or any upper, but this is the 300. barrel does not slip in loose. Is dry case lube okay for that? also I have white lithium grease, but was going to look for some anti-seize lube. is there a difference? my barrel came with the A2 sight gas block but is not being used as a gas block, just the sight and bayonet mount. I have a low profile gas block, just ordered some pins that are 3/8 length for this job. Then it came also with the Triangular hand guard cap, so no free float unless I take the sight block off. I have an original Buck early 90s bayonet that will fit on sight also so I think it will look nice, plus it looks like a real job taking one of these off just to change the hand guard. Is there a difference between anti-seize lube and the w lith? thanks I like your videos. I know they take time.
QUESTION:…….why did you align g-tube through b-nut BEFORE setting torque..(must use torque wrench).
ALL BLACK RIFLES MATTER
Great video man! thanks!
Man, your barrel went in easy. I had to pound mine in with a rubber mallet. I think it was because the upper receiver had a melonite coating (WMD upper receiver). Then of course the barrel nut was tight because I'm sure it stretched the upper a bit. Used grease all the way, everything was still pretty tight. I couldn't hand tighten the nut, but I think it's positioned right after tightening with the wrench.
Just building the upper today. Might be awhile before I get the lower done. Hope I haven't really messed this thing up! Built an AR in 556 last year and it turned out great, this one in 300 black is a bit more challenging.
what size barrel is that
My dad always said to freese metal pins and to warm up gaskets and things that had to stretch. I find it does help greatly.
How the hell you put that gas block pin in so easily?
Can you use the same bolt carrier group for both the 5.56 and 300 blackout? Or are they different? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Did you use the ar upper receiver or do you have to get a new one to convert the ar to .300 blackout ? Thanks
The loose vise base drove me crazy! Other than that, good video.
How long is your barrel?
Thanks for posting. I feel the same way about that roll pin…
Bluz2jazz yes ur correct! Torque to 30 ft lbs and loosen the barrel nut 3 times. On the 3rd torque, torque the nut over to the next hole to align the gas tube thru the upper reciever, usually less than 40 ft lbs. And put a little aeroshell 33ms on the barrel extension and on the threads of the upper reciever.
Great job explaining it as you went along. I was intimidated by the head space and time but looks easier than I thought. I'll be doing a 300 blackout upper build soon.
You did not Torque the Barrel Nut, Why? Just hand tight. I thought there were torque specifications around 30 pounds?
What size roll pin holder would you buy?
just switch barrels everything else will work
and upper and magazine and bcg
thank you
i asked that coz i accidentally ordered a psa blackout complete upper for 499 buck was thinking of returning coz of difficulty in finding ammo and dont want to invest in reloading my own. thanks for the info
and bcg
35 to 80 ft lbs depends on barrel nut
300 and 5.56 use same upper lower and magazine
that type of vise block was designed to install free float hand guards not to put barrels on you can tweek your receiver
