  1. Good video overall, but lest any newbie take this video as the absolute truth in all situations let me clear up how to load the magazine in normal circumstances. Firmly and smoothly throw it up there (this should be a fast process). DO NOT lightly lift it up there and do some pull shit. On the other end of the extreme don't jam it up there with all your strength either. Happy medium people 🙂

  2. In my experience this method of push pull is amateurish at best. During my time overseas we trained to tap, rack and bang or Rip Rack Reload. I was in the Marines and Army and the BRASS and SPORTS methods are great. However, if you need to get the weapon back in the fight push pull is a weak method and is not forceful enough if you have to get the weapon running again. I dont know of any serious instructors teaching a push pull ie MagPul, CSAT, Viking Tactics, Spartan or Tiger Swan.

  3. the army taught me SPORTS, slap the mag up, pull the charging handle, observe malfunction, release charging handle, tap forward assist, squeeze-

later down range i took away 2 steps from the process making it PORS (pull, observe, release, squeeze); however i incorporate the other two steps (slap and tap) when i do my mag changes

you're exactly right this is for beginner non-combat shooters,

  4. US ARMY taught the SPORTS method. 1 (S) Slap the bottom of the magazine with the bolt closed. 2 (P) Pull the charging handle. 3 (O) Observe the chamber for miss fed rounds. 4 (R) Release charging handle to reload weapon . 5 (T) Tap the forward assist. 6 (S) Squeeze the trigger and go boom!

  5. @Desenrolle lightningman01's point is still valid. This is a drill that should be practiced, but not when you have a mis-fire. You should always adhere to the 60 second rule when at the range or whenever you're not in a life threatening situation. This video would have been better had it pointed this out. Obviously you're not going to wait if it's a life threatening situation, but this video is about a drill.

  6. Mark Thomas and the NSSF should be careful to check the advice given in their videos they release as at the end of the video Mark says "Push Pull Rack Roll" rather than what the gun site instructor was teaching i.e. "Push Pull Roll Rack"

  7. I'm glad that somebody has finally tried to put a stop to that business of smacking the bottom of the magazine. All that will do is dislodge the top round and then you have a double-feed. I have run ranges and have seen that happen more times than I can count.
