  1. Can you review a PILAD P1x42 red dot? It's Russian, pretty cheap, I would really be interested to see you opinion on how it compares to higher cost optics especially in terms of precision and parallax error

  2. My biggest concern would be that magnifier blocking a good portion of my field of view while moving and aiming down the sights (and i never trusted the "low ready" position), but ive never used either setup so id love some feedback from those with more experience.

  3. Late to the party, I know. I put a Bushnell AR Optics (First focal plane) Throwdown 1×4 magnified optic on my SPR, and it serves me well. I swapped the stock carry handle upper for an Aero Precision flat upper, so I still have the front sight on my barrel, but it doesn't interfere with my field of view. My question is this: Do you have a particular brand or two of side mount iron sights, for CQB distances? I'm new to the side mount/flip sights, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
FYI; both myself and my MWD are former Marines, so if you could recommend a flavor choice in crayons, we would both be very grateful.

  4. With a scope close range is secondary, and vice versa with a magnified red dot. The low power scope is making something for long range perform at close range, and the magnified red dot is making a close range optic perform at longer ranges. The real question is what range is your top priority. Both will do well at all ranges but better at some.

  5. What would you do if the area you are in initially is urban, but if you are on the move and getting away from your initial engagement point, then you find yourself in more of a rural setting? The area I live is more suburban, but if I would travel more than a couple miles in any direction I'll be in the country.
