I go over the new Streamlight RailMount HL-X weapon light that takes Surefire Scout mounts. I do a beam comparison, discuss the properties of the light and what I think of it overall.

I can't find a 45 degree or offset mount anywhere for my streamlight protac HL-X. Help me please I can see you have one.
does the stock mount come off if I want to use a different mount?
Can you remove the light from the mount or is it 1 piece?
Great video.
Great light.
However, there is a little bit of play on the pressure pad with the rubber mounts.
All in all, it’s a great value.
Great video! Decent lights for sure! For the money they can't be touched.
Does Fenix make any lights you would recommend for a rifle? Or is it a no go because they don't come on at the highest setting everytime?
You think this can hold up for duty use like a surefire can? Cant decide on this or another surefire and dont want it to die in the middle of a class since im a civy
How has the light held up long term. I had an issue with mine and think it may have just been a lemon
just bought mine and i am happy! thanks so much for this awesome review
will that pressure pad fit into a tango down vertical grip?
The light has programmable settings if it's too bright for ya.
Do you lose the dot with a red dot in the hotspot of the light?
@ I have a question sir. I have the Colt Enhanced Patrol Rifle with a Centurion Arms M-LOK CMR rail system. How do i install the picatinny rail mounts for the light? Any help would be appreciated
18650 battery capability is a major selling point to me, as my Goal Zero solar charger came with a 18650 power bank that it can charge in an afternoon.
Does this work on the Daniel Defense V11 KeyMod?
Great review
“Like it’s 1995”
Hey I was born that year.
Amazing review dude
Excellent video as always. Thanks for the review!
Got mine this week and mounted it to the BCM. Love it so far seems to be a great light for a great price!
@14:49 where is that? A crack house?!?!
This and the protac 2l are about the same price. Any reason to not buy this one?
have you tested this at long range? how far out can you see
Excellent video. The only issue is as you said that the light is very strong and in small rooms and it will be a problem for inexperienced people. Can you make a video to show us how to ''room clearing'' in the dark with this strong light without get ourselves blind?
I have this light and like it quite a bit for the amount of light it puts out and the range it has. I have had it flicker on me and go out from recoil more than once.
As always, great video. I'd like to add that the Fenix lights are very underrated. Very high quality lights for about half the price of a Streamlight or Surefire. The Fenix TK16 would be a great one to campare this Streamlight with. I have my TK16 mounted on my DDm4 with a offset DD light mount and after 1 1/2 years of use it is still running like new and have only recharged it once.
I absolutely love love my HLX1000 (running a Cloud Def. mount and love that too). After north of 70 rinds through my newest build it's been trouble free and really lets me light up those dark spots on the property. Thankfully I've never had to use the rifle to defend myself but I;d hate to have it and this light at full rip pointed at me… It hurts my eyes to flash it indoors in the wrong situation LOL. It's not perfect, but for the price there's nothing that can touch it IMO )the O-Light PL2 would be a good compro but it's a significantly different light style and made for pistols primarily).
For anyone doubting Streamlights quality/durability, I've been using their products in both the Fire/Rescue Industry and in the Backcountry (both for EMS and my own off-time travels rafting/backpacking etc) for 15-20 years and with the exception of a helmet light that litteraly got melted (along with the helmet) every Streamlight I own is still functioning, and I own quite a lot of them. Surefire is a great company too and they make tough, 100% top-of-the-line gear but their pricing is often… "ambitious" (you;re paying a fair bit just for the name on some products IMO) and even being in the "tactical" world their mark-up is HUGE. Buy what you like but I kinda laugh when people call Streamlight a "budget" light company (not referring to you personally MGG, love the channel mate).
the Nelson Candela Affect
Incredibly detailed video man. Thanks so much for this!! I really appreciate your effort.
Vocal fryyyyyyyyyyyyyy
So glad I found this video when I was researching WML for my AR. Helped me decide to buy this particular model. Thank you 🙂
Just to be sure these Protac lights can be set to where you just push for momentary then click for constant without low or strobe? Not using tape switch just the tailcap.
Does the Streamlight Rail Mount HL X come off that rail mount so you can use a Magpul Rail Light Mount?
what i think makes this HLX amazing is that it takes a rechargeable battery which for me is huge. if only for hunting and night training. saves money.
Important question: Will the tapeswitch from the Streamlight work on the Surefire 600?? Thanks!
Would I be able to mount this on a American Defense Mod 2 UIC?
I am looking at forend rail mounted options for my Rem870. Would this be a good option at the price point or would something else be better?
What's a good forward mount for this light on a rifle?
Mrgunsngear width of the bezel. My pro tax railmount already sit tight on my KMR
20+hrs on the low setting is pretty impressive. Great review!
Arisaka Defense offset scout mount is a must with these lights. Check them out.
I can tell you from experience that pressure switch sucks. broke pretty fast, which I had read was the case but I risked it anyway and mounted it on the gun. the switch itself was good. not so easy to activate on accident but not hard to grab and light up. unfortunately it just stopped working out of the blue and I had to go hunt down the regular cap button and haven't gone back.
Good review, thank you for taking the time to make this.
"WTF I shined this light at my mirror and it blinded me while I was clearing my house !" Lol you can't please some people
I have this light and although this review is accurate, the light is wayyy more powerful than what comes across in video. Great video man!
what's the hand guard that's being used
What scout mount do you have on there? I was looking at adding one to minimize bulk instead of using a keymod with picatinny section on there.. were you able to remove the picatinny locking mount on the light and just use the scout holes? or maybe I'm just not seeing the knob from the angles shown on the rifle lol
the light itself can be used as a weapon. being hit with a brightlight all of sudden stuns you. try being being strobed with a 1000lumen flashlight, you wont know whats going on.
Excellent review!
A very informative channel. Thanks for sharing.
