I go over the new Streamlight RailMount HL-X weapon light that takes Surefire Scout mounts. I do a beam comparison, discuss the properties of the light and what I think of it overall.

  1. @ I have a question sir. I have the Colt Enhanced Patrol Rifle with a Centurion Arms M-LOK CMR rail system. How do i install the picatinny rail mounts for the light? Any help would be appreciated

  2. Excellent video. The only issue is as you said that the light is very strong and in small rooms and it will be a problem for inexperienced people. Can you make a video to show us how to ''room clearing'' in the dark with this strong light without get ourselves blind?

  3. As always, great video. I'd like to add that the Fenix lights are very underrated. Very high quality lights for about half the price of a Streamlight or Surefire. The Fenix TK16 would be a great one to campare this Streamlight with. I have my TK16 mounted on my DDm4 with a offset DD light mount and after 1 1/2 years of use it is still running like new and have only recharged it once.

  4. I absolutely love love my HLX1000 (running a Cloud Def. mount and love that too). After north of 70 rinds through my newest build it's been trouble free and really lets me light up those dark spots on the property. Thankfully I've never had to use the rifle to defend myself but I;d hate to have it and this light at full rip pointed at me… It hurts my eyes to flash it indoors in the wrong situation LOL. It's not perfect, but for the price there's nothing that can touch it IMO )the O-Light PL2 would be a good compro but it's a significantly different light style and made for pistols primarily).

For anyone doubting Streamlights quality/durability, I've been using their products in both the Fire/Rescue Industry and in the Backcountry (both for EMS and my own off-time travels rafting/backpacking etc) for 15-20 years and with the exception of a helmet light that litteraly got melted (along with the helmet) every Streamlight I own is still functioning, and I own quite a lot of them. Surefire is a great company too and they make tough, 100% top-of-the-line gear but their pricing is often… "ambitious" (you;re paying a fair bit just for the name on some products IMO) and even being in the "tactical" world their mark-up is HUGE. Buy what you like but I kinda laugh when people call Streamlight a "budget" light company (not referring to you personally MGG, love the channel mate).

  5. I can tell you from experience that pressure switch sucks. broke pretty fast, which I had read was the case but I risked it anyway and mounted it on the gun. the switch itself was good. not so easy to activate on accident but not hard to grab and light up. unfortunately it just stopped working out of the blue and I had to go hunt down the regular cap button and haven't gone back.

  6. What scout mount do you have on there?  I was looking at adding one to minimize bulk instead of using a keymod with picatinny section on there.. were you able to remove the picatinny locking mount on the light and just use the scout holes? or maybe I'm just not seeing the knob from the angles shown on the rifle lol

  7. the light itself can be used as a weapon. being hit with a brightlight all of sudden stuns you. try being being strobed with a 1000lumen flashlight, you wont know whats going on.
