This is the second piece in the new project that I am starting some time this fall: assembling an AR-15 rifle in 5.56 X 45 mm. This will be my first attempt at building an AR from the ground up. I’m always looking for new projects and such and this feels like a good time to do this one.

  1. I hear ya. It's pretty hard to find any lowers these days and when you do, the price is astronomical. I think if it passes the senate, it won't pass the House. I'm hoping anyway. House reps are more vulnerable to a pissed off electorate since they come up every 2 yrs, so they need to be squeezed and squeezed hard.

  2. Well, dude. Get started on some more builds. I know I am. Stupid bitch anti-gun tyrant, Feinstein just convinced the Senate Judiciary Committee to vote to have the renewed Federal assault weapons ban moved to the Senate floor. This is the big step for full votes. I'm just going to buy as many lowers as I can find for now and just store them away for future builds if I can't buy anymore AR's with this new assault weapons ban possibly going into effect.

  3. good luck with the build. it's a shame it costs so much to build one these days. If I had stuck with just getting 1 upper for mine, I probably did the whole job for around 800-850 or so. My R-Guns lower cost just $79 bucks. $600 for the AAC Blackout Upper, $86 for the MagsLLC Stock.

  4. I just scored with finding this exact parts kit online. Hard as shit finding parts kits these days in this anti-gun political climate. I'm saving big time by building my on AR15 in a world where they now sell for $1600-$2500. I figure my entire build is cost me about $1150.

  5. Of course I know you will lube it. If it were me building from fresh parts I would place some weight on these issues from the beginning. Using one make from start and sticking with it will just "ease" things a little. Just an observation that is all.
