I have seen video its amazing gun . See a good video http://guntradervideos.com/watch/rapid-manual-trigger-manipulation-rubber-band-assisted_GENRJsteyqKL9tx.html
jesus, so called customer service is beyond pathetic…Nikon should be ashamed!
Mounting a scope high is common practice for long range shooting. A 1/2” higher at the gun for a 50 foot hold-over/bullet drop is nothing. Need an accurate scope level though.
That mount is set up for AR-10’s it’s way too high for that bolt gun. Your cheek well would need about an inch of elevation.
great video, good instructions for a novice.
what were you using to hold your rifle?
you mean inch pounds??
Yeah I've had a couple incidents with Nikon customer service as well. I was so used to Ruger and Remington customer service that the first time I called Nikon I thought I was being pranked. Call Ruger or Remington and every customer service person you speak to will listen to your question and answer you with exact specs – call Nikon and they keep you on the phone for 3 hours trying to answer questions you never asked them.

Q: What's the difference between 'tight enough' and 'too tight'?
A: 'Tight enough' is when it stops turning. 'Too tight' is when it never stops turning…
i think i;ve read somewhere from NIkon, the mount is 25 and the scope is 30in/lb
I didn't see a follow-up video. How well does it perform with tracking, etc.?
great video good info
That scope sure sits high on that rifle
you must really need high cheek rest for scope rings set up
thats because weaver and pica-tiny [1913] rails are different
Where can you get the scope mount separately? For some reason my scope did not have the mount with it…
Every fastener has a torque spec based on size, thread type and material grade which can easily be found on the net.
Foot pound per cubic inch I believe some guy torque more but research with manufacturer of rings and base to make sure
I'm going to say that, this mount is for an AR-10 variant rifle…not a bolt action…this thing sits way too high…you want as close to the barrel as possible…hopefully you ditched that mount or put it on an AR-10…cuz that thing looks awful on that gun…
Nikon sucks hands into too many hobbies so…they sucks. 20-22 for bases and 17-18 foot lbs for rings is my choice. I feel caliber specific magnum i tight 22 foot lbs my preference
wondering your opinion on lapping the scope rail before mounting scope…
That scope sure is high above the line of bore. How many inches to the center of the barrel from the center of the optic?
thats mounted way to high.
Good job on your 2 videos. The bedding video especially. 1 comment only on your customers choice on rings, Damn that scope sits high!
20 foot lbs? Holy shit man your going to kill that scope
Risarms: I'm going through the same issue with my M-308, the slots on the Weaver 97T rail are too narrow. I checked through the postings in this thread and don't see the answer. What's the second rail you put on your 700 that fit?
You meant 20 inch * pounds. 12 inch * pounds = 1 Foot * Pound. Like you said, "Big difference". Thanks.
I like the choice of scope but,…
Putting a Picatinny style rail on bolt rifle with the included one piece rings puts the scope really high above the bore.
This type of mounting is really intended for an AR type firearm.
Witness the huge gap between the objective lens and the barrel.
I don't see how you would ever get a decent cheek weld on the stock.
Maybe a more conventional mount on the rifle would be more advisable.
Or…
Consider a different stock/chassis with adjustable cheek-piece
12 Inch lbs=1ft lb
Just ordered the XS sight system rail for my Ruger GSR, hoping to get the scope soon for it. Great vid. Thanks — Brendan
Lol I had the same problem I used 65lb on the rail & 25 on the rings that is the recommended spec for my scar 17. About 1500 rnds & only had to adjust vertical zero twice. Love it 4 inch eye relief is sweet.
Thanks for the info.
