I am a huge proponent of assembling AR15s. The 2 I have I put together myself and are 100% reliable and very accurate. It really is a lot of fun and very gratifying. All my friends who are not very familiar with firearms think i am super crazy talented. I sure fooled them.
However, I STRONGLY recommend against using ebay to purchase AR15 parts unless you are 100% certain the seller is an authorized dealer, or if you are buying used be sure the seller is reputable and can guarantee their parts are legit. There is a large number of counterfeit parts on ebay, I learned this the hard way. I purchased a Spikes Tactical Charging Handle (CH) in 2015 off ebay. Didn't put it into a rifle until 6 or 8 months later. Went to the range and fired about 150 round of Orca 55gr FMJ. A few days later I noticed a lot of of excessive play in the CH. When I took a look at it the inside front of the CH where it pushes on the gas key was worn like I had shot thousands of rounds through it. I compared it to a DPMS Charging Handle I had and the Ebay CH was much more flexible which meant the metal was not Mil Spec like the seller said. When I went back to ebay the seller was no longer active. I got in contact with Spikes tactical and they basically confirmed that I was scammed.

I’m fairly new to the AR world I built my first one last year and plan on doing a AR-10 build when I’m done with the pistol build would love to see a pistol build video I know much of the information in this video applies to the pistol build I’m just kinda getting hung up on the lengths of everything like the difference between a “pistol” and a carbine do I shop for a carbine gas tube or a pistol gas tube all my regular AR gas block work for a carbine gas tube? Sry for the rant loved the video subscribed and looking forward to watching more of your videos

The only problem with starting a build with "cheap" in mind would be the AR15 is the ultimate adult Leggo kit. The first one I ended up building, with cheap in mind, ended up with close to $900 in parts that I had to put together…but what a rifle it is now.

I have waiting to be picked up at my local gun shop a price rifle. All new components complete upper $199,completelower $89 and m16 carry handle with sights $24.peice together ready to go,gave a quick thought to using a 80%receiver—- but special tools and jigs needed and of course the time to do it.A lot of people want to make a science project out of these builds,some times its easier and cheaper to buy a gun complete .I did a little reading on parts reviews and or course youtube ar15 vids.Also after holiday sales and gun friendly political climate—– goodformula for excellent buyers market.
