Streamlight TLR-2G:
LLOD Holsters –

Streamlight TLR-2G is the perfect weapon light for home defense, in my opinion. In this video I go into some thoughts about the light, compare it to some other similar models, and cover some of the specs of the light. This is the light I use for my personal home defense weapon, though I still do carry the Surefire XC1 as my EDC gun light. Fortunately the controls of the lights are very similar and I have no problem mindlessly transitioning between them.

Optics Planet was kind enough to send me this light for the review, as part of their Brand Ambassador program. Hopefully I can develop a longterm relationship with them, and I’d appreciate you using the links below to purchase anything from them that you’re interested in!

  1. Here's an idea…Get an Amazon Echo , get some Philips Hue bulbs, and control the lights with the Echo. If you hear a bump in the night…"Alexa, turn on all lights"…and all lights come on. No need for a flashlight. As Clint Smith says; "Turn on the fucking lights".

  2. One more on why u haven't found anything about these gun mods being an issue….you've only been reading the public record aka criminal case (where the mods don't mean anything to the facts)…..after the criminal case then comes the civil case (aka not open to the public-for the most part) and if it's a shooting you can bet the record is sealed and redacted……how do I know u ask bc I shot a guy in the gut when he tried to rob me at knife point and I had a custom trigger so my goal in life is to troll idiots that have no real idea about what their talking about when it comes to this shit…lol lol noob

  3. Lol I'm sorry man but do u even train….all that shit on your gun….get a glock get a light get night sights do a 25 cent trigger job and that's it….go to the range and shoot in the dark at 7yds….you will hit the target (accurately I might add) and probably not even be looking at your sights….u will spend more time looking for that laser than shooting…then like others have said a defense attorney is gonna make u look like a gun nut on steroids and while you may win a criminal case you will undoubtedly lose out in a civil case (especially with that home defense gun) look up how civil cases and restitution is decided….(public traffic civil cases will give you some insight- 90 percent their fault for speeding and driving in the wrong lane 10 percent your fault bc you swerved out of your lane into another to avoid them and they swerved in the same direction so if you had stayed in your lane the entire time no collision-and that is just a taste)

  4. And honestly all this talk about passing guns and wife this and that….for the new people to law and gun ownership,,this doesnt apply in all states….if you shoot a gun that isnt registered to you,,,even if you have the same permit…you can be very surpised how prosecutors will use that against you…Im not saying this to be a troll or be a dick…but understand…an unauthorized weapon or illegal weapon, is still illegal….I understand the idea,,fuck it if my life or families life is on the line,,to hell with whos gun is whos,,i get it…i understand that at the moment of life or death,,no one is thinking about getting the right serial number if we both have glock 19 permits…Im just saying…you guys have to understand..in the real word…people go to jail for stuff like this…If you and wife live together and have permits…just because she has a permit, doesnt mean she isnt breaking the law by taking your gun in an emergency and using it lawfully in self defense….Understand…its impossible to lawfully use self defense with an illegal weapon….this is why you need a jury ….some states acknowledge this concept…and im only saying that because i saw an episode on first 48 where a street hoodlum had illegal gun and was cleared in self defense shooting…but his actions were still illegal …and since it was tv episode in another state,,i still dont know for sure how it applies….all i know is that ive seen officers arrest other officers who have legal guns for ny…because in ny,as you drive to upstate ny,,you pass in and out of nj on the highway….and these nj state troopers will fuck with you because hollow tips are illegal in nj but not in ny..and they have actually locked up ny officers just driving thru going home every day…its sickening…I dont know if it gets thrown out,,i dont know if its cause the situation was more than just a stop…but i know ive heard horror stories…..So for the new gun owners…all this red laser,,red dot,,pass me the gun babe while i take head shots kinda shit is not reality….you guys better have some self defense insurance with this,,maybe your lucky in the state your in,,,but all places arent this fantastic…so please people be safe and read your laws and ask lawyers and speak to people before you go ham with lasers and passing guns to friends like rambo hahahahhahaha

  5. I would be terrified to have all those goodies on a self defense gun…if you ever get into a situation ,,the prosecuter will have a field day and even if you get justified investigation…the burden of proof for civil trial has far less burden and you will be screwed ,,,especially if you did those upgrades yourself…..we live in a sick society that thinks your an assassin for those kinds of mods…

  6. I think i can speak for many people out there when i say i appreciate all the time and effort you have put into these videos and reviews! Keep up the good work! I plan on putting your promo code to good use at optics. Thank you! What is you opinion on a glock 19 with the trl-2g hl for an EDC appendix carry? And do you have any kydex holsters available?
    Thanks again,
    Mitch

  7. The red dot you're running on the Glock, how is it powered, do you have to turn it on when you deploy your weapon, or is it automatic, if its solar powered what about night time.

  8. Excellent review, thank you for posting it. I was actually looking for the HL version of this light but this review really gives us a good comparison of some decently rated lights.

  9. Great video on this Streamlight product. For those of us who might be a Protan (people having a type of red-green color blindness resulting in greens, yellows, oranges, reds, and browns appear similar, especially in low light. It can also be difficult to tell the difference between blues and purples, or pinks and grays).
What would the best model for me to buy? I'm buying a M&P 9 Shield. Please advise!

  10. Last Line Of Defense, have you tested the TLR-2 HL G (800 lumen) vs the TLR-2 G (300 lumen)? My initial thought when comparing them was 800 lumens is too bright if I wake up in the night but I like the wider light pattern with the TLR-2 HL G vs the TLR-2 G. Great channel by the way, keep up the humble and approachable persona!

  11. Great video decided to go ahead and purchase the TLR-2g after watching your review, plan on installing on my Glock 19 gen4 sorry didn't get to purchase through your link though had another coupon code through OpticsPlanet worth 10% to bad I couldn't combine the two:( keep up the good vids!
