The BUCKMASTERS II series offers the brightness and clarity of Nikon‘s Fully Multicoated lenses, as well as the generous eye relief, 100-yards parallax setting and Nikon‘s popular BDC reticle. If you’re passionate about hunting deer, the BUCKMASTERS II is the right choice for your next hunt.

i just purchased the nikon buckmasters ii 4-12×40. At 9-12x magnification 100 to 200 yards the reticle is sharp but the target is very out of focus. please assist as I am competing in a match this weekend.
I will be mounting mine on a Ruger American bolt action rifle in the Win 308 Caliber.? using it for Deer &Coyote Hunting.? I ordered the Buckmaster 2 in the 4-12x40MM
Perhaps this comment may help someone. Just received my first Nikon scope today, the Buckmasters II. Had to call Nikon because, other than turrets, nothing moved.
Simply put, and as informed by tech support, the new scope is mighty stiff from desiccant, I did have to exert more-than-expected pressure on the Eyepiece Adjustment and Power Selector Ring in order for anything to initially move. I did not do that for fear I'd break or mess up the scope and thus made that call to Nikon.
This is a beautiful scope for the price but no way to start out. Will just have to 'chalk it up' to experience, or lack of the same, but this is by no means my first scope ;-). Do not mess with the raised knob on the Power Selector Ring and do not put a screw bit to it. You are wasting your time. It is not to be 'screwed' with, the knob merely aids in adjusting the magnification more easily. The manual confuses and I am sure that people are messing with that tiny screw because the scope is so initially (only) stiff. Scope otherwise appears real quality for price. Live and learn, but I live on the side of caution with such things and despite Limited Lifetime Warranty from Nikon.
What makes this new Buckmaster 2 scope different than the original Buckmaster Scopes that were produced a few years ago.? And does it come with lens covers from the factory like the other Nikon Scopes.?
