In all the long range shooting I’ve done, I can’t think of any scope that has impressed me more than this Nikon Black X1000—regardless of price. When price is considered, I don’t know why I would choose anything else.

  1. Good review. I have no complaints with mine as it tracks true and the clarity is on par with the other scopes I have in this price range. Side by side comparison with my gen 2 vortex is pretty close to me clarify wise. Against my NF it doesn’t compete well. Great scope though for the money.

  2. I'm looking very hard at this scope for my .300 Win mag stainless Browning A-Bolt. That rifle has a BOSS micrometer style adjustable muzzle brake for fine tuning barrel harmonics and accuracy.

I now have a SWFA 5 – 15 x 42 (30 mm tube) FFP, mil/mil & side focus scope on my 6.5CM RUGER AMERICAN PREDATOR for western deer and antelope hunting.
This scope cost me $550. on a rare SWFA sale.

BTW, I highly recommend a ONE PIECE base for mounting a scope and putting it on a Picatinny rail.

  3. Great review… and the scope deserves it! I bought the X-1000, 6-24 on May 1, 2017. Not because I needed it, but because I was offered one for great price. My retailer friend sold it to me for $400.00! I was already using a stellar Leica 3.5-14 on my .308, so it was somewhat of a foolish purchase. That said one year later and the Leica still sits on a shelf and the Nikon Black X-1000 is still on the Ruger. I now need another centerfire rifle just to give the Leica a home!

  4. The image quality on these falls apart at higher magnification levels. I'd strongly urge someone seeking a feature rich entry level scope to step up to a Vortex Viper PST Gen II at a minimum. I tried to like this Nikon but I just couldn't when the Vortex is 25% more but offers far better overall quality.

  5. With today's state of the boy scouts, your name might imply that a boy scout is late on "its" period as is pregnant with a non-binary being!!! Things that make you go eydnftjfjfjddirjfjdj!!!

  6. I’m torn between this and the new Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18×44. Haven’t had a chance to look through the new Vortex yet but it has more zoom variation a little cheaper and has that awesome Vortex warranty. Looked through the X1000 at Cabelas and was very impressed. Maybe I’ll just get both 🙂

  7. Anyone who reads this in MISSOURI! There will be a “Mom’s Demand Action” protest at the Arnold Library this Thursday at 6:30pm. If you can, show up and counter protest! I’ll be there!
