  1. Really good video, but for deer hunting I will stick with my Ruger #1 25-06, one shot, one deer every time. Has five shot groups around 1/2 inch at 100 yards. Now if we're talking "fun" shooting, plinking, etc. an AR is fine, but when it comes to hunting, I'm not sure I see the need for an AR, or for that matter any semi automatic rifle. Just me, maybe I'm old fashioned?

  2. I have a couple of questions. Was the accuracy of the .308 so bad that you didn't really want to push the envelope? And kinda related, why are all the ar's, ak's, and other such rifles stocked with such short barrels? It seems you would want a rifle with a long enough barrel to be quick in close combat, yet able to reach out to say 1,000 yards or so. I mean I would be crazy to go buy a .270 with a 16" barrel for deer hunting. On the same note I am a very firm believer in one shot, one kill, no suffering. I once owned an ar-15 which I didn't much care for at all. The accuracy of the rifle was sporadic to say the least, and to have all the spare parts you'd practically need to drag a trailer behind you. I also owned an ak-47 that was less worrisome as far as parts, but still had a 16" barrel and the same applied. Close up accuracy at say 50 yards, but the further you got out, the worse it got. I have recently acquired a British Enfield .303 Mk4 No.1 that I have yet had the time to tinker with besides shooting it about 14 times at 50 yards before I ran out of ammo. Hey it was the first time I shot it, and man was it fun!! But it was very accurate at 50 yards. I can't wait to back out to 100+ to see what it'll do. But thanks in advance.

  3. Hey Nu B- I was thinking just the opposite. I have a Remington 760 in .308 and the damn thing kicks like a mule. I was appreciating how this rifle allows the shooter to stay on target so much better! lol Just goes to show that we are all different but if you're reading this you and I have a common interest- shooting.

  4. I choose the Lr-308 last year for the platform for my hunting rifle over the 556 for many of the same reason that you brought out in the video. I did make some changes to the the rifle because it was a basic rifle with a crap trigger and hand guard and gas block on it but for a 850.00 purchase price it was something that I was willing to take on. Two things that I did to mine were changing out the stock to a PRS stock not because it looked cool but because it made a big difference in the Balance of the rifle when shooting it from a standing position . I also made a change to a Adjustable gas block because the 308 platform is way over gassed and having that adjustable syrac Gen II block makes a big difference in the recoil. One more mod that I will make to the rifle will be a new gas block once I find one that I like the look of and the all around performance. This all said the 308 platform even though about 10 lbs with all the changes is still a dream to shoot. It is not a 556 that is fore sure and it never will be when it comes to weight and recoil but as for an all round fun rifle to shoot it is fun. One more change I will do to the rifle is changing out the barrel once I have shoot the current barrel out. With 850.00 purchase price and trigger and hand guard and stock changes I am still in the 1600.00 overall cost. I understand that I tossed a few parts but the benefit of doing it the way I did was that I could shoot the rifle right away and make the changes as money aloud . One other thing that I will do is change barrel length to 18" over the current 16" for better long range groups. But that said it will shoot sub moa currently with the 16" barrel at 100 yrds but at longer distance the bullet losses velocity faster with the 16" barrel which hurts groups out past 400 yrds. Thanks for doing the Review it just confirmed that after all the time an work that I have spent in building this rifle was the right way to go

  5. I thought mine was awesome until I tried to group with match Blackhillls ammo and was getting nearly 2 inch groups at a long range shooting course ( I would rotate to the bolt gun and get about .3 MOA groups with the same ammo and barrel length ) . Then had to send it back to the factory because of cycling issues ( the BCG was replaced at the factory ), eventually replaced the gas block with an adjustable and the barrel for a Rainier match… should just build your own and save the money.

The trigger is a really nice Geiselle and the Surefire muzzle brake is really nice as well.

  6. Your vids are high quality and will get more views after you've established a youtube brand…keep it up guys… ARMLIST has changing my gun buying/selling life.
