I decided to go over some information on building an AR-15 pistol while also showing the installation of the Midwest Ind. Pistol Buffer Tube that can be used with a SIG brace.

  1. so if i buy a striped virgin lower from dealer its registered as a other and if i pistol it with short barrel under 16" i legally can use a normal tube just as long as i dont have a stock on it or present??

  2. Great Vid.
For accuracy. There are no castle nuts on an AR. Castle nuts have cotter pins that go through them. These are spanner nuts. The wrench to turn them is a spanner wrench.
Also try brass hammers. A ball peen hammer has a rounded face to make malleable metal move sense the word ball. The peen is the little round part on the hammer.
    Thanks for a great job.

  3. Here is my question. I have a 16in upper on my ar15 right now. And it has the typical butt stock. Now what I'm curious about is if I can put the sb15 arm brace on my rifle and once it is installed can I switch out my rifle upper for a pistol upper and still be legal since my"rifle" won't ever have an actual butt stock on it when it's in rifle form. Or is that a no no?

  4. ty for the video you made my decision on what tube to get.

i never understood shorter tubes with pistols when its the same bullet and the same bolt group moving back and forth how they thought a shorter tube would work is beyond me ill stick with a millspec tube and standard spring.

  5. I personally think the Sig brace is ugly and unnecessary. The recoil is so little on an AR pistol I like just the buffer tube. The brace is just a fad that will burn out when guys figure out their pistol is more maneuverable without that clunky brace. Having said that, I really love the longer tubes being built to accommodate the Sig brace. On a normal size pistol buffer tube (7") my nose hits the charging handle. The extra two inches longer buffer tubes make it perfect for me.

  6. How far back does the sig brace sit with this set up? Is it similar to 1 click back on a traditional rifle, 2 clicks back, or fully pushed forward? Thanks in advance

  7. Dumb question as I am new and looking to build a pistol ar- but do you need the Sig brace for it to be considered a pistol?  If you by pass the Sig brace and just use the buffer tube does the buffer tube then classify it as a rifle?

  8. Awesome channel. I subscribed. I recently won an AR15 pistol and was doing research on the KAK buffer tube and found yoyr video. You didnt say it in the video but does the KAK not fit flush with a Sig brace? Btw check out my channel if you havent already. Thanks for tge video.

  9. One correction to your video – it is federally legal have a vertical foregrip if the over all length of the pistol is over 26".
    >26" w/vfg = "Firearm" – neither a handgun or a long gun
    >26" w/out vfg = Pistol
    <26" w/vfg = AOW
    <26" w/out vfg = Pistol
The 26" length comes in from the ATF definition of what is a "concealable" length. There is an ATF letter that explains the above as well.

  10. Thanks for another great video. A stripped lower can be either rifle or pistol? Can it be changed to the other legally or is paperwork required? Can a rifle be changed to a pistol if set up correctly?

  11. Awsome. I can get a DD MK 18 upper. Put my AFG on it. Get a sig brace , MI pistol buffer tube (when in stock 162.00 )Put them on one of my lowers. Temporarily…lol… Instead of buying something THEN waiting on the ok from ATF ( money tied up ) have this in hand for use then when "all cleared" I can change back to proper tube, buttstock. If I'm thinking right.

  12. Hello NSZ85. Since you seem to have a lot of experience, I wish to ask if you think building an AR-15 from the Billet Ambi lower from Mega and using the MKM Keymod handguard and billet upper receiver is a good choice?
