I do some shooting with the new Nikon 1-4x scope on several rifles and go over the scope, it’s features, it’s Speed Force reticle, and what I think of it overall.

  1. Thanks for the informative video. I might have missed it but how is the eye relief? I always find that Nikon is a good value but a bit short on the eye relief. Did you find this to be true?? Forgiving eye box?

  2. @mrgunsngear why do you have a video for literally everything that I’m looking to purchase from Polytech legends to all of the scopes available for my ar15s? Jeez man time for a tv channel! Btw your awesome man

  3. Help… probably been asked this a thousand times… Currently using a Vortex Strikefire II red dot on a Daniel Defense DDM4v9, 18" barrel, wanting to upgrade to variable scope . What magnification advise would you give for either 1-4x, 1-6x or 1-8x? Shooting at local range, 25 – 300 yd targets. Some limited amateur class 3-Gun.

  4. I have one and it's a great scope. Extremely clear and very easy on the eyes. The only bad part is that the illumination SUCKS. Even on 10 which is the highest brightness you can barely see it.

  5. As always your reviews are thorough and thoughtful. Very much appreciated! I wish the reticle was so busy but nice Nikon (Philippines) quality. Nikon also has a "No Fault Policy" Lifetime Warranty. As of today, Monday, July 31st Optics Planet has a 10% Coupon "SUMSAVE"

  6. Just picked up an Eotech Vudu 1-6 power, and it's the closest to 1x I've ever seen. You have to focus on the irons, but once you do you can cowitness them to your reticle just as you would a red dot.

  7. Just got my Nikon BF 1000 today and will pair it with an AD Recon mount on an AR-15 Carbine. I have not shot with it yet. The scope's glass is very, very clear, gathers light well, and the etched reticle is sharp. It is not worth $1500 to me to get "better" glass. The BDC lights up bright and crisp. The only objection I can see with the Nikon BF 1000 is if you don't care for the BDC reticle design. I like it so far but will make a definitive judgement once I get back from the range.

  8. One way you can show clarity is use a camara lense testing background. Should be able to provide a positive feedback from 25-100yds.. Something to consider for sure since they would be easy to print or have printed on high quality paper.

  9. How would you say the focus holds up on this one while zooming? I have a cheap Vortex Crossfire II 1-4 knocking around that I have to re-focus if I change zoom at all (set it clear at max magnification, but it goes fuzzy really quickly if I zoom back out) and it's annoying the hell out of me…

  10. I finally received the Steiner P4XI 1-4X "DEMO" i ordered from optics planet about a month ago, ( they emailed me that it was out of stock with NO ETA the day after i ordered it)and I was VERY happy to get it! I paid $322 shipped and it looks great, in box with everything and full warranty. THANK YOU for your review of it as that and the price I got is what sold me.My problem is I am going from an aimpoint PRO w/factory mount to a 1-4X scope with an AD RECON mount and I have never PROPERLY mounted a scope. My main concern is how to get the crosshair mounted "plumb" to the rifle.I have it mounted by eyeball for now but not zeroed. I can see how being a little out of "plumb" could cause problems zeroing the scope.Any help always appreciated and thanks again for helping me find TOP quality glass for way under $400 !!!!

  11. The fact that a variable won't co-witness has nothing to do with magnification.  No variable scope will ever co-witness, even if it is a true 1X.  The system has at least 4 lenses and it isn't feasible to focus on something as close as the front sight and a target hundreds of yards away at the same time.  The same reason all variables still have limited eye relief even at 1X.  Red dots/holo sights don't have lenses so they have infinite eye relief and will co-witness.
