The topic of optics and AR15s is as old as time. Today, we discuss what we like to use on our home defense rifles. Everyone has a preference, and there is not necessarily a wrong answer. The big thing is to train, train, and even more training. We hope you enjoyed it. Make sure to leave a well-educated comment below.

Prior to EVERY video, weapons are checks and cleared, even if you do not see it in the video. A lot of times, it may appear as though firearms are being pointed at heads or arms or bodies and this is often due to the camera angle at which the videos are filmed. If anyone would like to discuss firearms safety my instagram DMs are ALWAYS open if you would like to discuss or learn more about what we do.

we're gonna get GTA 6 before sparkys onlyfans
You know, I clicked on this site for "factual information", NOT advertisements… knock off the BS and get to the FACTS first, then advertise so I can go away…
Please consider explaining the acronyms once for those people who are learning. LPVO = Low Power Variable Optic
Clueless! Optics do not make it or break it for an AR. Master iron sight like we had to do in the military in the 80s, at 40 targets distances ranging from 50 to 300 meters, from the prone, kneeling, and standing positions, then move on to the luxury of a red dot. And FYI, 65.9% of gun owners use a handgun for self defense with only iron/polymer sights…No red dot or light. Maybe you shouldn't give advice on what equipment to use in high-stress situations unless you've experienced them…Have you? What works best for you in Call of Duty doesn't count.
Why am I seeing so much of that optic mount that is super high off the rail? Doesn't that make looking through it uncomfortable and require a super high cheek riser?
I use PA 1X micro prism on 11.5 with a folder for my home defense and bag gun.
I like that it has the etched reticle if battery is dead, and it has a diopter for focus. The standard red dots can get kind of distorted where the prism doesn’t. The acss reticle is awesome and precise. 🏆
Just removed my lpvo because of reasons stated. They are also heavier.
Simple red dot for cqb inside the house.
Thanks for video.but saying : (its pros and cons) over and over, dos not help the vibe or viewer,s decision.
But for home defense i mean youre looking at the absolute max 15 feet of distance
Your back up Flip up sights are more than enough
Also the new VUDU EOTECH 3-9 COMBO WITH THE RED DOT ON TOP comes in around $940 and total in length is 6in that's a 3-9×30 scope at 6in long its compact and it sees out
I got a IED for home defense
Regarding prism sights – if you're seeing magnification (positive or negative), you should be able to adjust the diopter to remove it (Assuming it's a quality prism). Another downside of a prism though is the reticles can be hard to see at night if your battery dies.
Are you suppose to shoot with one eye open or both
If you live in a house like mine, the longest distance your gonna be shooting is probably 20 yards. If you practice much at all, you can easily point shoot at 20yards with an AR. I'm not completely convinced that an optic is necessary at all. Irons should do fine.
Can you combine a magnifier with a prism optic?
I’d like to see I’ll do a review on a CMMG resolute A.R. 15 and actually do a comparison between a BCM and CMMG
I wanna hear the info, but I keep ffwd
One dude talks too long .
Aimpoint duty rds or Sig 4xt Pro.
Holosun AEMS/ 510c are my go to options
The Vortex spitfire 2 red dot with the 3x magnifier built in to the optic
It's $399
All my setups have an LPVO and have etched reticls backup red dots and / or iron sights with a light laser combo or a light and a laser, and one has a red.
KRSS 10mm Vector
People that don’t mind looking through toilet paper tube dots, don’t practice enough on transitions lol
I know it’s becoming uncommon, but if you’re worried about the Red dot going down, then that’s why we put back up irons on. Back up irons are secondary aiming system that could save your life in a pinch. JMO
Red dot and a “Laser Light” combo if you’re serious about home defense.
Prisms are better for those with athstigmaitsm. Red dots tend to blur if you don’t have time to put on glasses or wearing your contacts. Overall red dots are best for the majority of people though. IMHO.
Home defense to me equates to short range and open sights with a highly visible front post.
El Pevio
1X micro prisms for me for home 🏡 defense.
Good video fellas, see you next Sunday.
I like the bigger holosuns. Like the AEMS. I also have a romeo5, but i reqlized that with a bigger glass on the optic, its very easy to switch your ar15 from right to left shoulder and quickly pick up the dot.
Currently 8:51 on Prisms. Wonder if he’ll talk about the bomb & emp proof iron sights since I don’t see any BUIS on their rifle.
A good set of metal rigid irons like the Daniel Defense or Scalarworks no batteries no electronics.
I have all 4. Home defense has Holosun 510C and Daniel Defense irons.
Prism with magnifier
Vortex Huey. It’s the Eotech with a forever warranty
I love my Vortex Crossfires. Economical, reliable, and the dial switch is faster to get into action than pushbutton.
With an astigmatism it is 1x prism sight all day long. Throw a 3x magnifier on it and it’s a solid setup.
Red dot for home defense
My home defense AR has the Romeo 5 dot. I can hit a dime from anywhere to anywhere on my property with it. Full daylight or in the dark of night the shake awake function and its precision make it perfect for that mission.
