Yesterday, the Senate Judiciary Committee favorably passed Senate Bill 1748, providing liability protections to the firearm industry. SB 1748 will now advance to the Senate Commerce and Tourism Committee for further consideration. The companion bill, House Bill 1551, is expected to be heard in committee next week. Please use the Take Action button below to contact members of the Senate Commerce and Tourism Committee and urge them to SUPPORT SB 1748.
SB 1748 and HB 1551 provide needed product liability protections for firearm manufacturers by clarifying that manufacturers may not be held liable for claims based on the absence or presence of certain design features, safety mechanisms, or technologies that are not required under federal law.
