In 2025, the matchup between these two, at least on paper, is not close. However, sometimes numbers don’t tell the whole story. Let’s discuss…and remember, don’t make it your whole personality…

  1. Heres the thing with eotechs.

They are quality. They have durability. They have reliability.

The reason it was invented is the reason it's still relevant which was to be the undisputed king of nightvision.

Yes there are plenty great red dot options for nv but eotech does it the best with the best glass clarity and light transmission due to no tinting, the nice large and open window, the quick nv on/off button, the most crisp reticle through nv due to being a hologram, a very usable reticle, ease/simplicity of use as a whole, and the most range in brightness with 20 daylight and 10 nv settings.

Outside of that if you're not using nv then ya, it's kinda hard to justify getting for $500-$600 new other than the cool factor and I say that as someone who loves my exps3 and doesnt have nv.
The new model for a grand is utterly ridiculous and in now way whatsoever justified when you can get a used exps3 for even less.

Battery life is fairly irrelevant as it's 1 cr123 that's common and easy to find, (a doomsday zombie apocalypse fantasy is irrelevant and battery access for gun optics means nothing as you're going to have much bigger problems than keeping your dot on and that's what irons and etched prisms are for), the reticle gives you warning when it's low by blinking when it turns on so if someone picked it up to use for self defence and it was totally dead that's their fault for neglecting to touch their stuff in the past year or more, and anyone using it in competition or swat guys or military dudes or whatever is going to have access to all the spare batteries they could ever need as well as carrying 3 or 4 in your pocket and just swap it out. After turning it on with the down button you get 8hrs till auto shut off and nv mode will be the most battery effecient it could be anyway and is only needed to be turned on when getting ready to use it.

Solar really doesn't matter as it still uses battery to function by using power to be able to switch over to it.

Missing an auto turn on is probably the biggest downfall of the eotech outside of the large size and weight.

So ya, absolutely if you're not into nv there's a lot of other options that are much more cost effective and the new model aint worth a damn for $1000.

  2. Also eotech not offering a smaller moa red dot for their pistol red dot and sticking with a massive 6 moa when they first came out was a mistake. I was in the market for one when they first came out but the only option was 6 moa.

  3. The only reason I have an EOtech over a dot is because I have astigmatism and red dots are fuzzy like I had a Sigg Romeo four XT pro and it literally looked like an ax wound and I was like this is so ass it’s fine when I wear glasses, but I have my main rifle set up for home defense and in the middle of the night if something goes bump and I can’t get my glasses and kinda don’t want that to be a thing but the battery life is absolute ass

  4. The blue tint at one point was a battery saving measure. Once you know that isn’t necessary anymore with newer coatings while battery life continues to go up, it becomes less of a battery saving feature and more of a cost cutting measure, which is bad for the consumer

  5. I started off with a Primary Arms micro red and then eventually bought a AimPoint T2 and to me it’s basically the same thing🤣 will admit the quality is better, but from $100 to $900 it’s just a name thing at times

  6. I like the 5 year battery life on T2 which is really closer to 7 years but Eotech has 1400 hours of life and it auto shuts off after 4 or 8 hours depending on which arrow you use to turn it on. My Eotechs will typically last 9 months including the 13 years I served in a SMU in the military and the countless hours I’ve spent training on my own range and dime. I own more T2 then Eotechs. Only use Eotechs on 11.5s and 10.3s.

  7. This was a weird video. Technology has changed in red dots. Same technology just more companies making red dots with features you don’t need. Aimpoint is the only red dot I’ve seen be able to within combat and training. I use both Aimpoint and Eotech and neither is my favorite I like them both and with all the “advances in technology” they are still the best even though they are 20 years old now.

  8. You're one of my favorite youtubers. I don't know why but all my favorite guntubers are the guys who fall between like 10k to 50k subs. I guess before big shill/ mega ego takes over or something.

  9. Haven't even watched the video yet, but going ahead an saying my peace… EOTech is the most overhyped junk ever.

I've owned two EOTech's and three Aimpoints (two PROs and an M5). My Aimpoints have been flawless. Light, long battery life, vast ecosystem for mounts, bombproof, and 95% as good under NODs (which is the only real pro to an EOTech). BOTH my EOTechs delaminated within a year, and batteries lasted no time in them. I didn't even bother turning my Aimpoints off because of the battery life. I know most disagree with this point, but Aimpoints are a much cooler vibe to me too.

The only advantage to EOTech's are the NVG performance, and it's not much better.
