I wanted to clear up a misconception about Staked Castle Nuts. Staking a Castle Nut is NOT permanent.

Came here to find ways to loosen the nut to add a law folding stock. I may or may not replace the nut as well and can practice staking on the old part. Start small with minimal force until it starta then a couple of taps is what I've seen done.
Dude how much tooling does this fucking gun have
Literally nothing is permanent.
Unbelievable…Im a total amateur sitting here STRUGGLING to loosen my PSA Marauders castle nut.
I mean it may not be permanent if you put a wrench on it, but I dont see that castle nut ever backing off via vibration. It is super staked.
I just use blue Loctite….
Keep up the good work, great one hand video 😊
Sriracha brand threadlocker in bulk.
My smith and wesson m&p 15 sport is staked similar. I was very impressed. They make good stuff.
You mentioned “outside of Colt” at the end. I wanted to comment that I had seen someone do this to a staked Colt lower and it took tremendous force. They do, or did, one hell of a good stake in 2012.
I've always wondered why people insist upon staking them to begin with. For me personally…I change shit around too much to even bother with it XD
DOH.. I Came here thinking it was how to grill a Riibeye or T-bone
Who said it was permanent. It was just tightly secured from coming apart. I see nothing wrong with it. As apposed to using Red Loctite.
I've never staked a castle nut. Thousands of rounds. Never an issue.
It's definitely tweeked…
bet. i’m sure if i had all those nice tools, it would be pretty simple. but i don’t. so i cannot get this staked castle nut off to save my goddamned life. i have torn the MF up trying to get this bitch off to install my QD end plate.
Some people have way too much time on their hands to be looking at their rifle this closely ;), thanks for the video
Good job. I hope you’re getting that GERD treated.
Giving us some learning while a WWII dogfight goes on in the background
Get a glass of OJ and a cough drop!!!!!!!!
A properly toqured castle nut will never come loose. Staking a castle nut is unnecessary and only needed if you fail to assemble the weapon properly.
Came here to state the obvious. Nothing holds like a good, solid cross-thread!!!!
I rather put lock tite instead of staking.
What idiot thinks its permanently attached?
Deez nutz in yo mouf are permanent
Install the castle nut and end plate, Acetone the receiver extension, let dry apply VC3 around band of only engagement, let it dry for 5min, torque appropriately. I’ve never seen VC3 with proper installation come loose
I have never ever seen 3 stakes before, 1 is sufficient
Well, DUH. it's to prevent it from vibrating loose. 🙄
