I need help understanding barrel nuts. I have a dedicated 9mm upper and I can’t find any other handguards that attach to this barrel nut, their all ar15 hanguards, can I replace this barrel nut with one that will work with ar15 handguards?
Im a litte confised and I think there was some contradiction about the suppresor ready section with the "integrated" look. You said you want to add your barrel length and supressor then get a handguard that is one inch shorter than the combined length of the two. But before that you said that you want the end of the barrel to protrude passed the handguard, that would then eliminate the "integrated" look. Unless I am mis understanding somewhere. Then the red hand guard shown wtih the supressor is atleast 3-4 inches shorter than the suppresor.
While mounting a light on my handguard using the M-Lok slots, I found that the machine screw and t-nut was touching the gas piston and gas block when I mounted it midway of the handguard. So, I ended up putting the light at the end of the handguard where there is just barrel. But if I want to mount a short Pic rail on it, I will encounter the same clearance problem.
Just a heads-up and something to consider.
Great explanation of handguards and the utilization of each one.
