I do the same with toggle wall anchors, a little pressure holds the back side right where you want it.
I was taught to tighten it all the way. Put it in place back it off till it has enough room to.quater spin. Torque 10 fot plastic 15 for metal.

Damn. I’ve been installing M-lok parts for years Never knew this trick. I’ve always just took it on and off until it seated right. Oh, and making sure I held my mouth right haha
