Scope parallax shown and explained in easy terms . Scope parallax can cause misses and frustration when shooting at the range . It’s a simple concept that I hope this video shows in real time . Make sure and check out my other Scope tip videos . I’ll leave a link to that playlist .

Looking to improve your shooting accuracy? Understanding rifle scope parallax is key. Parallax occurs when the target and reticle are not in the same focal plane, leading to misalignment and shooting errors. In this video, I will explain what parallax is, how it affects your shots, and how to adjust your rifle scope to eliminate parallax for clearer, more precise aiming. Learn how to adjust parallax settings for different distances, improving your overall shooting experience.

We’ll also cover the best techniques for parallax adjustment and how to identify when parallax is an issue, whether you’re shooting at short or long ranges. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced marksman, knowing how to deal with parallax can make all the difference in your shooting performance.

  1. Heh. Im new to you tube for my shooting needs. I absolutely love the fact that you are transparent and are a hoot when you knock your shit around. It's great and says a lot about you. You manage to show hunters like me that we bang our rifles, and scopes around on a regular hunting day. I recently joined in a precision shoot. With a cheapest of cheap ruger 22lr. And a cheap utg scope. The pack of them basically said they were going to laugh me out. When I placed 4th amongst them, a few patted o the shoulder and said, " good shoot" and the other was "good shooting" i took it honorably and took my 4th place. Yet I think I could do better, because, I just set the scope fro. One gun to the other. All they let me do was one practice shot and on my way. I was just about 1 1/4 out to the right and 1/2 and inch high. From hunting o know how to do hold overs understand windGe shots from my hunting, point is, I've learned a lot from your channel. Just wanted to say thanks for what you do. THANK MAN. 😆 🤣 😂

  2. I helped my brother build an ar 10. He out a nice scope with parallax in it. The first parallax scope weve ever had.

We kept having issues when sighting it in. His group was too big.
We then thought to adjust the parallax and once it was set to 100 yards, we had sub moa.

  3. How do you fix the parallax ? i have a ZeroTech Vengeance 6-24×50 FFP we tried for the first time yesterday and when i move my eye around and keeping the gun still the scope dot moves on the target. I did watch one of your videos and you spoke about it but i cant remember which one.
When you hit your scopes with your sandbags 🤣

  4. I newly installed my Vortex Venom 5-25×56 scope and tightened the rings with a torque meter to 20 in lbs (as written on the mount and roughly reccomended my Vortex)

After that, I could not turn the parallax knob anymore 😮
After loosening it up, the knob turns and works again, but the picture is really blurry on the edges and a bit less clear even in the middle 😢

    What did I do wrong?
I am not new to torque wrenches, it also felt about like 20lb in (it is a screwdiver type torque wrench)

    Please help 😢

  5. That explains why , many times when shooting cheap low end scopes at a high manification you can see some wide groups. I have killed deer at 250 yards with 4x fixed scopes. not a fan of high powered glass. It is ok if you have to bucks for the target game to set up a rifle correctly. . Thankyou for a great simple explanation of what can happen from Parallax.

  6. Just being honest but all the distractions you insert in your videos are just that, distractions. I’m here to learn from you, not be entertained. Thanks for the parallax information.

  7. So I was ignorant of parallax and just purchased a Vortex Diamondback 3-9 x 40mm w the parallax at 100yds for my Ruger 10/22 Sporter, 18" barrel.

I planned on sighting it for 75 yds. So, did I understand you correctly. Turn the magnification all the up (to 9 in this case), then zero my rifle from there, and all should be peachy?

I am new at this. Thanks.

  8. Even though parallax is an irrelevant concern for the type of shooting most people do, that doesn't mean a person shouldn't understand it. This is a fantastic demonstration of the concept. Nice work and nice editing.

  9. Hello, I have noticed that with some scopes, when I turn the parallax from 20 to infinity, the POI (point of impact) shifts vertically (up or down) during 100-meter (91-yard) zeroing. The shift is around 8–10 cm. Why does this happen?

I zeroed my rifle at 100 meters using 100m parallax. But when I shoot at 900 meters and adjust the parallax to infinity, the POI changes significantly. This makes a big difference in long-range accuracy.

This is not related to shooter error or head position — it happens even from a stable shooting rest. Is this due to optical design tolerances or mechanical shifts in the internal lens system?

I couldn’t find a video that clearly explains this issue. Is there a way to calculate or predict this POI shift caused by changing the parallax setting?

    Thanks!
