Who is Ron Spomer
For 44 years I’ve had the good fortune to photograph and write about my passion – the outdoor life. Wild creatures and wild places have always stirred me – from the first flushing pheasant that frightened me out of my socks in grandpa’s cornfield to the last whitetail that dismissed me with a wag of its tail. In my attempts to connect with this natural wonder, to become an integral part of our ecosystem and capture a bit of its mystery, I’ve photographed, hiked, hunted, birded, and fished across much of this planet. I’ve seen the beauty that everyone should see, survived adventures that everyone should experience. I may not have climbed the highest mountains, canoed the wildest rivers, caught the largest fish or shot the biggest bucks, but I’ve tried. Perhaps you have, too. And that’s the essential thing. Being out there, an active participant in our outdoor world.

The reason why AI won’t replace us is because of misinformation like this for views. Due to capitalism, it’s more profitable to spew bad information to increase engagement. Which in return feeds bad information into AI making us turn into an “idiocracy”.
Rifled slugs do spin because the patient said it does because that was the purpose of the invention which was filed in the patient!!!
Why aren’t the ribs straight then? Doesn’t make sense.
Holly Fudd lore misinformation Batman!
So full slugs could potentially damage barrels but rifled slugs will not?
Thank You …
Great class, keep teaching us, my friend.
Been looking for 3.5 in slugs my grandpa had a old box can't find em no more
I stopped trusting "experts" a few years ago. Here's another example of why!!!
As somebody who fires a lot of slugs, out of a lot of different shotguns during the winter, come spring, you can definitely find intact rifled slugs that tell the tale.
They actually do spin
BS
Hmmm I thought the original rifles slug manufacturers patents say they were for rotation…🧐
This dude spews out so much incorrect information it's ridiculous. I wish someone would start a "myth buster" type channel just to call him out on all of his B.S.
If that's the case, why are the ribs cut in a spiral pattern instead of being cut in a linear pattern?
I always thought “rifled slug” was a bit confusing. I prefer the term “Foster slug”
Wrong
Taofledermaus tested this. They do spin, although not very fast
You are WRONG there is slow motion footage of rifled slugs in smooth bore and they do in fact SPIN. MISINFORMATION
Ron Spomer, you are wrong! Please recant, or check for yourself!
Love your channel, but why are the rifled slugs helicoiled/angled as opposed to being straight if what you’re saying is 100% correct?
Ultra slow motion video does show rotation of rifled slugs sent through smooth bore shotgun barrels.
Not fast rotation, but enough for stability and better accuracy.
They spin at approximately the same rpm as a professional QBs tightest spiral. This pales in comparison to a rifle round, of course, but I'm sure it helps.
Rifled/ribbed/foster slugs do spin……just sayn
They also made smooth bore slug barrels with front and rear sights and did NOT have a choke. They were called an improved cylinder. My dad had one for a 12 gauge 870.
this is just fudd lore, it does have a spin.
I just like the funky hole they make in stuff.lol
I distinctly remember Mythbusters doing an episode that involved a rifle foster slug on high speed camera. That mf was definitely spinning.
