He was referencing the “sunset” of the 1994 assault weapons ban, but failed to realize that you could buy AR-15s during the ban as well as “pre-ban” guns and the Boomer-grail “pre-89” rifles.
Take that design with a 1 in 7 twist to use bigger grain bullets and the AR platform in the older design comes alive. Too bad during the Vietnam War they didn't use the 1-7 twist barrel with heavier bullets.
Very cool. My oldest is a ‘77 and has that strange boot shaped fwd assist 😂. Sadly mine is a heavy barrel but still cool. Not like I’d carry it or anything anyway. Just super cool to own history
My wife’s stepfather had a colt sporter with the oversized takedown pins. It hadn’t been shot very much. I took it out once just to get to say I did. It ended up in his son’s collection later once he passed away. Kind of unique how colt changed the size of the takedown pins at the time so they couldn’t be mixed with military components.
It didn't surprise me for one minute I mean being the lars your all time democrat s are these days I don't believe anything said by then ? I mean what next the left will tell us that banjo boy Joe Biden won the election over president trump again? Just saying? PS president trump you still have my vote again in 👉🏻 2024
Lmfao everything fixed in place. “you’re 6’4? fire it with one hand i guess idfk” “you’re 5’3? you won’t have to lug that thing around here’s a flashlight and a 1911 c’mon”
Thanks for clearing the typical myths concerning the AR-15, just an additional note that version was for civilians and police, the one that General Lamay contracted from Stoner same configuration with the exception of the giggle option, the military stock number for the AR-15 before the designation to M16 are the same as both had the option of full automatic.

I have heard of an early AR 15 that is full auto. It was made before the military adopted the M16. Have you heard of that?
That’s an SP1…
My dad bought an original Colt AR for $175 in the 70s
Not only were the sold in the 1960s, But you can buy early rifles with a C&R license
The bolt carrier was modified and the firing pin the hammer had a cut out so it wouldn't fire out of battery
It's lovely to see without the failure button

I want it just for that damn handgaurd! I’ve always been mystified by it . I want a mini 14 too
That's the only one I would want
For a blaster from the 60's that thing looks smooth to shoot!
Ignorance is abundant these Days
I remember when I was a kid and this around 1980 and my dad buying his first Colt AR-15 and it was just like that one
2004 was the yr the 94 AWB sunset. Antigunners are so silly. 😂
Fortunate Son starts playing
What 2004 lol these things were invented in the late 50s and came out in the early to mid 60s
why did the carry handle get so small later on? my windham i can barely get my fingers in the carry handle
Actually that is the M16 a1 which was manufactured after the North Korea war
after 60 years it's still sexy.
Looks like the AR15 we carried when I served in Malaysa with the British Army.
Such a beauty
I got 1972 colt and got it for 300 bucks and vape

Just found out the AR-15 was designed in 1956. That’s so wild. I had no idea we had such advanced weapons at this time.
Sounds like an Abrams running in the background.
Colt started selling AR's in 1961.
I have not been able to find the "Edgewater" Buffers for my clone build, w/o Forward Assist on the Upper Receiver
No fun switch in this one?!

Whats the twist rate on the barrel?
Where can I get one real one
That’s funny someone said that. I wonder if they mixed up precision billet aluminum receivers over forged which came out around 2004’ish?
it's a m16

The very first AR-15s were aluminum not polymer
It's like the AKM time period (not AK-47)

FA added after Colt had so many complications with jamming. About 1965.
I cared that dinosaur, in the US Army infantry
If the AR-15 first came on the US market in 2004? How did I buy a Colt AR-15 A2 in 1989???

Colt mags were also in 30 rounds back then. You would actually fill it with 28 rounds though.
Edgewater buffer is crap
It also doesn’t have a shell deflector …
