  1. Im liking the 1x acss prism a lot because etched reticle means batteries dont HAVE to exist in order to operate, and the autolive lets me leave it on. Its still new to me, and i havent seen many hard use reviews on it, so not sure real battery life expectancy, or how well its going to hold up, but between the featureset, the reticle being a chevron, and the prism playing well with my shitty eyesight, its quickly become a favorite for me.

  2. Most holo sites now have a motion activated sensor so you can come up and they're on they turn off within 5 minutes of non-use so unfortunately. This doesn't really Pan out unless you're gonna stick with one of these older models that don't have that feature.

  3. At this point its kinda stupid that Eotech doesn't have a shake awake feature.. It just doesn't make sense.. If u have an Eotech and you're a cop, soldier or security personnel, u literally have to set a reminder on your phone or computer so u can change the battery regularly.. And if u don't and it fails, you could pay with your life

  4. God I adore my eotech. I understand people’s complaints about battery life, and this is why I will only ever get their HWS 500’s series’s with AA batteries. If I’m using my gun as a bedside rifle I just make sure to turn it on before bed and use the up button so it lasts 8 hours. The batteries seem to get me buy for a good 3-4 months and AA is cheap as hell. If I was a cop I’m sure it would be the same thing.

I’m pretty sure the AA models are not as popular only because people see “Uncle Sam uses this!” Before realizing how much of a pain in the ass CR123’s are becoming in the age of rechargeable lights.

  5. I used Eotech for a patrol rifle. Yeah the battery life sucks and has no "shake awake" feature but it still has a solid amount of run time. As a professional you should be maintaining your gear anyway and not relying on features. Same reason you do "press checks" after admin loads or function check after cleaning/disassembling.

  6. This is why I think optics should have remote switch compatibility. A pistol grip that has a grip safety style squeeze pad to turn on the optic so as soon as you get your hands on the gun and are rasing it to look through the sights they're on, without the issues shake-awake has for car storage, would be a pretty easy sell for people whose job is high pressure situations.

  7. Tbh the romeo 8t is probably a better buy. The only edge i personally see is lack of blue tint which doesn’t matter if you’re target focused. Better battery life for those patrol guys, the eotech magnifies well, but the 8t/4tpro is on par if not better due to different reticles that can be quick swapped to. The minimal parallax that holos have is marginal when shooting and the clarity under nvgs is also marginal if both identical compared to the 8T. Eotech exps3 is a dated optic now where LED dots have caught up offering more features and identical performance for less. I have an exps3 but man its kinda outclassed in 2025 tbh

  8. Yeah pressing a button twice during a 12 shift to have it on and ready to go is a thing. Is it ideal? No. Are your points invalid? No. Is it still one of the best optical sights available? Probably.
