July 28, 2025 – MIDTOWN, Manhattan, New York — Two individuals — a man and a woman — were taken into custody at the scene. While arrests occurred at the scene, they are unrelated to the incident.
Meanwhile a gunman wearing a bulletproof vest stormed a 44-story skyscraper on Park Avenue Monday evening, fatally shooting an NYPD officer and injuring at least five others, bringing the total number of shooting victims to six. The shooter, armed with a rifle, opened fire around 6:30 p.m. inside the building that houses Blackstone and NFL headquarters, before barricading himself on the 33rd floor and dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The officer killed was assigned to a paid detail for Rudin Properties. Witnesses reported hearing what sounded like high-capacity automatic gunfire.
