We figured we’d test it…..and it was kinda nuts what we made for the same cost. The ultimate built-versus-bought showdown. #customrifle #gunbuild #65grendel #ar15 #guccirifle #gunsofinstagram #weaponsdaily #pewpew #2a

  1. I love my Gucci build. .300 blk suppress with a super safety was a pain in the butt but I got running amazing. I only shoot subsonic. Agreed you can make a really good rifle if you know how to do it and have the patience.

  2. Barrel, BCG and Bolt is what you should be looking for.

I was curious about this too. LMT (ambi lowers god i hate them) i went to source the upper (handguard LMT uppers are monolithic) and BCG and bolt, with their piston barrel and their budget lower with an addition to the strike industries ambi magazine release. It was 1,500 less. They sell their complete rifle for 3500 (piston and no its a non reference rifle).

LMT makes non ambi lowers as well i also forgot to mention their axil trigger which is pretty cool.

LMT customer service is like nighthawk custom in that regards. Amazing people and a shioter course they hold every year for everybody to go to its a 3 day event with an included armory course too.

Reason their rifles are expensive due to the monolithic uppers which is expensive to do and the ambi lowers which features a bolt lock, they are patented and having to source it and get the license to include it in their lowers is very expensive to do. Which is why ambi lowers with bolt lock feature have a higher price tag. And of course piston is generally more expensive than DI but with LMT you dont have to worry about parts yoy can but them at their website and even their dealers. Benefit with LMT you can source their parts and stuff to make the rifle you want from them. Its exactly the same and less if you bought it complete.

If you arent a fan of piston or a piston nut like me, you can do a frankin build. You can buy a complete upper (geissele URGI is an excellent upper for what you get) and lower is free for all and you can swap out handguards too. Their QC is pretty consistent too 9 hole reviews has a video where Josh went bankrupt on buying two URGI uppers one witb a nightforce ATACr and one super duty from them and they are all consistent.

You can also source parts from FN USA with their barrels (probably the only barrel that has sheer incredible barrel life on them) and upper too.

This is not a gimmick or hard to get or being an elitist, this a fact you dont have to spend 3k on a rifle. If you dont believe that science marketing bullshit, build yours out and save the extra dough on a class and or ammo.

If you want to spend 3k on a rifle, by all means we're in America arent we, im not stopping you at all

  3. Yeah, it's not really that hard. Once you have the tools, know how to check for QC and part selection, building a high quality AR15 is easy enough and relatively cheap. Less than 500$ for 90% of performance in an upper, spend a little more for a better BCG or bolt carrier and a true free float upper receiver set and you now have the best you can get for about 1000$ + lower
