  1. No flashlight is worth more than 100-200$ much less 400-1200$ for a large heavy light that’s the same brightness as one half the size and the slightly brighter ones are much larger and more expensive to do it and get hotter much faster. Ask yourself what do you need the light for, how long does it need to be on for. Most uses are much better off with a headlamp that’s much cheaper lasts much longer and will do the job much better, try holding your rifle up to see where your going for more than 1 minute . Get a descent light on firearm and a nice headlamp and flashlight. Will serve you much better.
I like streamlight protect hlx pro and Olight Baldr S it is so lightweight bright and has a laser that’s super powerful and bright, easy on off to go between firearms, and a Sofirn if22a for 27$ that’s brighter than all these lights and shines 200-800yards depending on what it’s hitting. Works VERY WELL in cold climate. Waterproof and stays bright for 15-30mins when hot out and the entire battery life when cold out. I’ve had it two years of almost nightly use charging 3-10 times a week with replaceable battery. A Ningbo Meeko International 500 lumen sensor headlamp and it’s great and cheap.

  2. Stream light = best bang for the buck$

Cloud defense = best kit for high $

Sure fire = most proven reliable high end$

Stream light is only cheap in comparison with these overpriced lights, 150-200$ for a flashlight is very expensive and over priced not cheap in price or in quality, but 400-1200$ from the other companies is robbery and makes the 200$ option look cheap when it’s still 6-20x the price of what it costs them to make it, they are all made of the same materials using the same designs but cost much more just like firearms, the same machines same designs same materials making the same parts put together in different buildings with a different name on it, one costs 350$ and another 3500$ and the 350$ has a lifetime warranty and the 3500$ does not. Make it make sense. Upper lower barrel BCG all the same material same design using the same CNC machines to cut the same materials but somehow one costs 10x the other.

  3. Stream light protection hlx is very nice and super bright, only thing it doesn’t do is pressure pad stay on, it stays on as long as you hold it and to keep it on you press switch in the tail cap. Still works nicely and works perfectly if you set it close enough to manipulate the tail cap with hand still on the rail.

  4. I suggest a headlamp #1 from my experience, you need to be able to see where your head goes not just your firearm. I have one with a motion sensor mode, so I can wear it backwards and if anything walks up it will light up, and I can turn it off and on without touching it.

  5. I know I'm going to get called a poor for this one, but I have two surefire knockoffs from Amazon for 35 bucks that work just fine for me! I already know in broke as shit, but spending more than $100 for a fucking flashlight is ridiculous!

  6. My question for the people who run a light off center, have you ever used it for night time "stuff"? After about 10 minutes of actually needing to rely on a gun mounted light , I moved it to the bottom. The shadow is then projected upward. It means you can see better and have no forward blind spots. It doesn't matter if the shadow is cast upwards. It matters in every other direction.

  7. You ever try the Sig MSR light?? I’m looking for something for my shorty and I want something small, and the MSR isn’t expensive and looks decent and is cheap, comparatively.. I think it was like $200ish.. but I haven’t seen much about it.. but it’s sig so it has to be decent.. and then it’s short so it seems perfect for a SBR or a short rifle(pistol)

  8. Nothin wrong with a good budget light. Especially since 95% of us never actually needed a light on our gun (admit it’s true). Consumer mindset in the gun community is crazy, we aren’t all high end operators

  9. I have stream light, it will light up the whole backyard. Can’t speak to much to how big of a beating it can take but it is bright asf for home defense or mucking around in the woods

  10. Flashlights are arguably the most overpriced piece of gear you can buy for your rifle. It’s a Flippin flashlight people. It’s a flashlight. A flashlight. You don’t need to spend $200 to buy a decent flashlight.

  11. No, it's gotta be
1, C-long 1,000,000,000 candela tac light for $.04 on temu
2, the xbtax 1.21 million lumen light from eBay
    And
3, that 3-5 lumen keychain light I got for free for opening an account with the local box store.

I mean, come on, how do you expect people to take you seriously?

  12. The fact that expensive flashlights don't come with a push tab is kind of ridiculous. That's why streamlight is at the top of the list for almost everybody..

    Modlite fail under torture test.
Cloud defensive is pretty good but at a price.
Surefire is also really good but doesn't come with a pressure pad for the price that it costs….
