Tomorrow, June 3, at 1:00p.m. the House Judiciary 2 Committee will hold a public hearing on S50, the Freedom to Carry NC.

Click the “Take Action” button below to contact the members of the House Judiciary 2 Committee and urge them to work with the NRA to amend this bill so all North Carolinians who can legally purchase and possess firearms can carry concealed without a permit under S50!

S50 would recognize your right to carry a concealed firearm for self-defense without seeking government permission by eliminating the requirement that law-abiding gun owners obtain a permit to carry. The NRA strongly supports constitutional/permitless carry; however, S50 still has some pitfalls that could entrap well intentioned gun owners. S50, as written, creates scenarios in which a person could lawfully purchase and possess a firearm but would be prohibited from carrying that firearm for self-defense purposes.

The NRA is committed to working with willing lawmakers to improve this legislation and help make North Carolina the 30th constitutional carry state!  Please click the “Take Action” button above to contact House Judiciary 2 Committee members and stay tuned to the NRA-ILA website for further updates on this bill as it moves through the House of Representatives.
