A 15-year-old armed with an AR-15 stormed Texarkana Regional Airport, demanding a plane—but he wasn’t stopped by law enforcement or security. Instead, a local pilot grabbed his own gun and took control of the situation, ordering the suspect to the ground until police arrived.

Why can’t we know his name? That’s ridiculous if he thought that he was so big and bad to steal a plane he should be big and bad enough to publicize his name.

This is how the normalization of violence weaves itself into the very language of a society. A literal child with a semi-automatic weapon trying to steal a bloody airplane and nearly pays the ultimate price! But just this week. More to come next week then? Now that is crazy!
Instead of figuring out the what, why, and how this CHILD got to this point and perhaps addressing that problem, the focus is on self-protection. Its disturbing. This child was raised by this society. He learned that behaviour, that mentality, from within this society. He was able to get that AR from within this society. This society is responsible and should be held accountable for creating such a horrible place for kids to grow up. That child is ruined now!

I think it is very important that in this article we don’t mention the cowboy individuals who have pulled the same maneuver and ended up killing innocent by standers most likely that pilot had some sort of back ground allowing him to take charge. I have a lot of guns and extensive training but one of my worst fears is of individuals who believe they are qualified with no experience to take this kind of action, I can say frankly if my family members are injured as the results of one of these events, said individual playing cowboy they will definitely need protection. I edited this because I did not see this feller talk about the importance of training spot on thanks for the awesome article.

When I was 15 I was souping up my go kart now 15 year olds go to the airport with a gun. Interestingly enough the only things that have changed is stricter gun control and social media…but I'm sure that has nothing to do with it.

Police hung out at airports just to shake down passengers after a tip off from TSA a passenger cleared to board a plane had cash and would wait until the person got not just in line but damn near ready to get on the plane before purposefully holding passengers up telling them they could leave if they are in a rush but their luggage couldn’t and to open their back if they wanted to make their plane on time. That so called police practice was finally banned but just because they can no longer shake down passages as they board planes, they have no use at airports? Where was security at this one? I’d asked that before I’d ask how come random employees or bystanders don’t have a weapon to take down a person with an AR-15.
I’m all for self protection and think all should be more vigilant but that’s not allowed everywhere all the time and if it were then we don’t need to pay as much taxes to pay police salaries if everyone was responsible for their own safety.
