I assume we’re keeping the discussion to pump guns only so here we go: The general quality of mossberg products are certainly higher than on the Remingtons right now, I haven’t played with new winchesters and browning quit making their bps. In my opinion the mossberg is worst deign of the 4 I have listed. The browning is a fantastic design and it sucks it isn’t being made now. The Winchester sxp is one I don’t have a lot of experience with so I can’t attest to its quality but the design is much like a 1300 which I have and is my favorite pump gun of all time. Cycles so dang smooth and fast, safety is in my preferred location and is much easier to use than the new factory mossberg safeties, and quality is quite good. Remingtons are superior designs imo but the quality unfortunately isn’t there but for less than $100 you can fix one up and make it awesome, go watch desert dog outdoors video on the 870 for that. Everytime I pick up a 500 or 590 the thing just feels cheap, I’ve had triggers measure over 10 lbs which is unacceptable, and the safety switches on new mossbergs absolutely suck. They’re too dang stiff and the round design means if you have gloves on or if your hands are sweaty it makes even harder to disengage the safety. After market switches exist with a spur on them and I think the folks at mossberg are stupid for not using it. Not only that they cut the screw so it makes it even harder for you to make your mossberg more usable. No matter what though all four of these shotguns work and if you only have a mossberg or just prefer it for one reason or another by all means rock on.
I own a Mossberg 590 retrograde with bayonet lug. And I couldn't be happier! I've zombie custom themed mine with everything for the apocalypse ever goes down!
