The father of a 14-year-old charged with murder in the Apalachee High School shooting was arrested for manslaughter and child cruelty charges after gifting his son an AR-15, despite prior warnings. The Morning Joe panel discuss this latest development. Charlie Sykes calls the ongoing crisis “American carnage” while Scarborough criticizes the “sick” glorification of AR-15s, asking why Republicans refuse to pass rational gun safety laws despite overwhelming public support.

  1. Parents should be held responsible. How about lazy parents stop allowing the internet to raise their kids. How about parents take responsibility for their own kids and instill values and morals. That is your responsibility. How about people who shouldn't have kids, stop having them. Birth control is free!

  2. Stop making excuses for this thug. I know people who come from way worse backgrounds and have real mental issues and never did nothing like this. The fact his Daddy bought him a Ar 15 for Xmas, tells me he lived a privileged life.

  3. How telling is it, that when I heard of this school massacre for the very first time, my first thought was, "I would bet everything i have that it was done with an AR-15."

    How utterly sad is that?

  4. WHAT?!

Where is the outrage from the NRA and Gun Advocacy groups on what this father did? He did this after the FBI and sheriff's department warned him of the threats from his son.

Yeah, I guess the father has to be arrested and tried. Don't know if he'll get convicted, but taking all of this into account, this has to happen….

  5. GOP candidates accept millions of dollars every year from the NRA. If you want stricter gun laws, vote blue. 🗳️💙🗳️💙🗳️💙🗳️💙🗳️💙🗳️💙🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊

  6. It is true that some (if not all) of the most recent 'shooters' have been found to have "researched" previous shootings, and a fair few have referenced Columbine, among others. Equally true that the way the media cover the shooters, let alone the shootings themselves also gets some reference. But all in all, it's the CHOICE of the shooter that counts, and their accountability for that choice. Ultimately it seems that kind of choice seems to be 'acceptable' and be because they simply can do it. "Because they can" is the hardest truth to bear about these type of shootings, and the one truth least acceptable to us all. So we seek everywhere we can for mitigating explanations, and there ARE many mitigating factors, all of which are legitimate contributors to choices that people make. BUT NONE can take away from the simple truth that the perpetrator KNOWS the choice they made is wrong (on so many levels) and they STILL CHOSE TO DO IT.
    When will it all stop?

  7. The father failed him and Law Enforcement failed for not seeing the RED FLAGS, oh wait Georgia doesn't have RED FLAG LAWS. Lets be honest REPUBLICANS are not PROLIFE period. The governor of GEORGIA also said he didn't want to talk about POLICYS about gun laws after this incident….that says alot about the Republican Party Again….a party who failed AMERICA AGAIN!

  8. It has been well demonstrated in psychological studies since the 1970s that children exposed to art and music tend to be more compassionate and less violent. Guess which 2 programs Republicans gutted first in educational budgets?
