My dad shot a hole in the kitchen floor with an ought 6. He thought he checked it it was a good thing he had it pointed down. When that gun went off nobody called the cops either. My dad was an experienced hunter and was around firearms for 60 years and I was surprised he made such an amateur mistake I never have and I'm a new guy at it and I'm 48 and inherited everything he had. Including that same gun and it's hard to figure out how he did that even by accident.
I am all for gun safety and treating it as the aim n die cannon that is… BUTTTT this shit is getting kinda crazy. More paranoia and anxiety towards weaponry than theres ever been. Me personally i take every deten spring out and fully disassemble my weapon before returning it back to the factory box it came in. Thats the only "right" way. See what im getting at?
For being at a match where its a hundred idiots around all scared about an ND with fudd ROs? Sure do this.
But I don’t shoot matches, I shoot cause its fun and I get dopamine from when the steel plate at 2k says Hi. Especially when firing pins and springs are about $300 if you can find em for my rifle, ima decock and close the bolt.
I take the bolt out of the gun when I put it away. In my soft cases, I store the bolt in a zipper pocket. In my hard cases, I have a cutout in the foam for the bolt.
This dude is the HOA of the gun world. If i double checked no mag and chamber clear, im gonna close the bolt and decock the gun if i damn well please. Edit: by this of course i understand, freedom of choice does not free me from consequences if i DO happen to fuck up and ND
Is dry firing in your house dangerous too? If you’re in a match, I get it, but all the time is absurd. I’ve seen hammer springs not being able to strike the primer hard enough to fire after they were stored cocked for too long. Triple check the chamber before touching the trigger and you’re fine.
So you never practice dryfire? Check and double check the chamber both visually and physically, multiple times if it makes you feel better. Even if I pull it out of the safe and know there is no round in it I will stil check multiple times before dryfiring.
I have always held the trigger while closing the bolt, the firing pin just follows the cocking ramp down. Nothing wrong with leaving it open or just removing the bolt too!!

Or just remove the bolt
No idea, why Francis is getting so much kick back, in the comments.
He's only giving abit of PRS match safety/ etiquette advise.
Its good advice that alot of people may not know 🤷♂️.
But didn’t he just do the thing he said not to
If it’s clear then it’s clear. You do what you want with your guns. Don’t tell anyone else what to do with theirs.

I usually look down the barrel to check if it’s loaded
Jeesch… i bet this guy's boyfriend is sick of him
You use your eye to visually inspect the chamber….

Guns aren’t magic. If it’s clear it’s clear.
This is your most useful information so far I’ve seen from your videos.
Anybody know what kind of case that is?
What? Check and clear and stick it in the bag wtf.
The reason is to not leave your bolt cocked. Not to say that couldn't be fudd lore…
I take the bolt out of the gun when I put it away. In my soft cases, I store the bolt in a zipper pocket. In my hard cases, I have a cutout in the foam for the bolt.
I remove my bolt and it goes in a separate bag
This breaks the gun safety commandment of treat every firearm as if it were loaded and if you wanna stretch it knowing whats beyond your target.

This is down right stupid. He's had negligent discharge in his past.
Its a clear chamber. You look down into your chamber. There is no way i leave my bolt open in the gun bag

What 😂 its called visually inspecting the chamber😂 this is just over done and no point
You should as well take the bolt out the trigger and the barrel lmao smh just to be safe
Meh… I like the old way just fine thank you!

I take the bolt out of the rifle to transport it. I even put it in another rifles bag.
Idiot. Hold the trigger when you close the bolt. Relaxes the spring without dry firing.
Don't tell me what to do. I do what I want!
