  1. Back in the day I picked Eotech 512s over Aimpoint M2s because of cost on our SWAT team. We called them the “donut of death” and trained on them extensively and it worked for us. That was almost 25 years ago.

  2. One thing I find unpleasant was magnifying the Aimpoint . I ran put a eotech g33 behind my t1 and the reticle was so fuzzy but when tried Romeo & holosun the dot came out so much clearer than the t1.

  3. With the Romeos being approved by certain agencies I don't feel the need to ever get an Aimpoint. I want an EoTech because of my astigmatism but the battery life kills it. Once they (or Primary Arms) adds shake-awake to holographic sights, I'll buy in.

  4. I bought both, basically. I purchased a Eotech expos-3 and a sig4t (my preference over aimpoint, Christian craighead used one during the Nairobi attack). I prefer the simplicity of the dot actually. I’m not a fan of the donut.

Eotech had nice FOV, however it’s hardly noticeable. This was a roughly $900 cost I went through to find out the red dot makes more sense. Shake awake, endless battery, simplicity is worth it in the end for me.

Yes Eotech is marginally better under nods but the red dots are excellent still.

Pick your preference but at the end of the day the red dots have more advantages.

  5. At this point the aim point is more of a copy of the HoloSun than the other way around.. AimPoint didn't have any of those advanced features until HoloSun license them to them. Which is why they didn't have that battery life until after Holoson came out with it

  6. EOTech for me. The glass is so much cleaner & clearer magnified or not. The dot is way more crisp magnified or not. The bottom of the ring is amazing for CQB height over bore. It has no forward emissions. And it's made not only in the US but in Michigan where I'm from.

  7. I like the wider FOV of the eotech myself vs tube style of a aimpoint, both are rock solid though and the best optics on the market, battery life is the bigger win for aimpoint but just put extra batteries in your grip storage pocket 😂 I run a exps 3 on a bcm bfh 11.5 and its about as good as it gets, 1 moa dot which is small so accuracy is improved 😎

  8. The Aimpoint was better for scuba the EOTech was better for HALO. Because the Aimpoint is pressurized so at 30k feet it could blow out. The EOTech could not be submerged as much. The EOTECH was better for CQB because it had a smoother profile and wouldn't snag on stuff. The Aimpoint has more mounting options. But both the Aimpoint and the EOtech has unreliable battery life until the second Gen. When EOTech went to AA batteries and Aimpoint was more efficient.

  9. In my mind the biggest advantage of the EOTech is under a magnifier. Being truly holographic, your center reticle will look to be the exact same size under magnification, essentially taking your 1 moa dot, and SHRINKING it based on your magnification. With my HM3X, my EOTech's dot is the size of 1/3rd MOA; honestly an unheard of reticle size outside of etched optics, and keeps a noticeable amount of the target more clear.

  10. Eotech. Because I love night vision shooting. I also like the exps3-4 for long distance shooting. I have one aimpoint on an m-14 and trying to shoot out past 3-400 yards is quite a bit harder. With my eotech 4-dot bdc I can easily hit 10” plates out to 500 yds and can hit out to 600 tho I haven’t practiced as much at 600.
Battery life doesn’t phase me as the eotech lasts over 1000 hours and I tend to change all my batteries in my optics one a year anyway so I’ve never had an eotech battery go bad since I’ve started this practice..
I had a Trijicon MRO but sold it because the parallax was noticeably bad. Was bummed about that as I love the RMR and acog.
As to which is faster, I’ve noticed that the weight of the gun has more impact on speed than the optic.

  11. Honestly wouldn't waste my money on either. The fact that these "High end" optics still lack Motion activation is ridiculous. Pick up a 515GT instead, or a sig Romeo 4t pro
