On Tuesday, March 26thHouse Bill 1018 was passed in the Senate with bipartisan support by a final vote of 33-19. HB 1018 prohibits the use of firearm/ammunition specific merchant category codes by payment processors. This is an important protection for gun owners, protecting private purchasing information from abuse by third parties. This legislation will now head to Governor Kemp’s desk to be signed.

The NRA would like to thank House Speaker Jon Burns, Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones, Representative Jason Ridley (R-HD 6) who sponsored the bill and led the charge in the House, and Senator Carden Summers (R-SD 13) who carried the bill on the Senate floor.
