Today, the South Carolina General Assembly passed Constitutional Carry and the bill is now headed to Governor McMaster for his signature. South Carolina is poised to become the 29th state to allow for constitutional/permitless carry and has taken another significant step in advancing the Second Amendment rights for all South Carolinians.
House Bill 3594 strengthens the right to self-defense in South Carolina by recognizing the right of all adults to carry a concealed firearm without first obtaining the government’s permission.
The NRA would like to thank primary author Representative Bobby Cox and the numerous other co-sponsors for supporting this legislation. NRA would also like to thank Speaker Murrell Smith, Senators Shane Martin and Wes Climer, along with Representatives Jason Elliot and Micah Caskey for their tireless efforts throughout this process.
Additionally, this effort could not have been accomplished without the efforts of NRA members and Second Amendment supporters who continually engaged lawmakers throughout the process.
