In this video we compare two awesome rifles.
the CMMG Mutant mk-47 in 7.62×39 and the Wasr 10 AKM pattern rifle also in 7.62×39.
This one was imported by Century Arms from Cugir Arms in Romania.

We shoot steel and put them on paper.

Enjoy!

  1. The first important point: no parts replaced on the WASR vs the mutant and I suspect that many of the CMMG parts are proprietary.
My wasr will shot 3 moa with decent ammo once I removed a loose slant muzzle brake
You did not do pushups on both rifles to see how rugged each was.
You should be using steel magazines. AKs so equipped can be used as a blunt weapons. How well does you cmmg do for striking people and does it mount a bayonet?

You are correct about the safety. AK is slung with safety on. Unslung safety off until business is taken care of.
The CMMG in 7.62×39 is more reliable than is an AR15 in that caliber. This includes the mag and the extractor. I only purchased an 7.62×39 AR upper because i have a lot of 7.62×39 ammo on hand. At close range generic M193 5.56 ammo is devastating on human flesh. And AAC PSA &IMI 77gr OTM mk262 is more reasonable in price.

  2. Depending on the ammo most of time ammo on an ak47 can drift off few inches but if correct ammo it will be good accuracy at 100 yards with good group . It not perfect 😊guns

  3. You hit it right on. AK’s are cool and fun but man expensive to feed now. And for a heavy gun? Why not go 300 blk out or just stay 556? The guns are more expensive and the ammo is expensive…I see it as a fun gun to have but not one I’d take with me for the end of the world(unless we are being invaded by a third world country). Too heavy and ammo availability is an issue. Love that mutant too bad on the mag release. I’m also with you btw, people say the ar is the most ergonomic gun in the world.. I don’t think the AR charging handle is ergonomic at all. Nor is deploying the bold catch. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Great video, thanks!

  4. Really liked this one, thanks for the comparison Turkey!
I have an Arma AKM (rebuilt WUM-1), also made in Romania and I'm keen to see how accurate mine is compared to yours. I'm thinking the results will be similar.
Regarding the railed dustcovers, the TWS Dogleg 3, MI Alpha series and Zenitco (pointless as they're not available anymore) dusctovers all hold zero and hold it consistently. Have a good look at the TWS or MI series of AKM furniture, they make awesome stuff that would look great on your CUGIR.

  5. I had a couple of the vz variants years back when the ammo was cheap. They fell victim to my practice of selling things to buy other things. Don't have any 7.62×39 at present and since what you are saying is true, I don't think I will be picking any up soon. Thanks for the video.

  6. I havent tried either , ak/ar but have been looking at budget friendly ar in 7.62×39 bca & radical and if i do im going with a bca. I've also considered a bolt gun in this chambering but want an ar. Thanks for info

  7. AKM all day every day. I prefer rock and lock, side charging and. Prefer the AK safety to the a AR safety. Learned to use an AK before I learned to run an AR and while there are things about ARs that I appreciate the AKM with nothing added is the deal fighting Carbine to me. Oh and to revisit the .40 subject, just scored a Browning Hi-Power in 40 and since 1911s don’t seem to like 40 this may be the ideal 40 platform. Runs like a sewing machine πŸ˜‰

  8. You got me confused on the WASR-10? When they were first imported, they had a proprietary single stack 10 shot magazine. A lot of them were reworked stateside by opening up the mag well to take the standard mag. And also opening up/reworking the internal feed on the bottom of the receiver, so that the standard hi-cap mag would feed correctly. Did you do the work yourself, to enable the standard hi-cap mag to function?

  9. I am definitely a CMMG fanboy. The mutant was my first purchase from them. Great firearm. Love the AK. I remember when you can buy them out of a 30-gallon cardboard barrel for $200 a piece. And 1,000 rounds of ammo cost you $75. You had to watch out that it wasn't corrosive, but those days are long gone. You are right. I do enjoy shooting both of those weapons. But I have really converted to 300 Blackout now that I reload.
