Last week, we did an unboxing of the DiscoveryOpt ED 1-6 First Focal Plane LPVO and mounted it on a 18″ 5.56 rifle. I was able to get out and put some rounds through it over the weekend to see how it performs. I shot it at multiple distances and used the entire range of magnification and this video is the result of that testing. Let me know if you are looking for an affordable First Focal Plane LPVO in the Comments and don’t forget to Subscribe!

  1. I was able to test mine out as well. Some of my takeaways were similar to yours.

-Glass was very clear and crisp
-The turrets are super audible and tactile. I think that impressed me the most considering the price.

I wasn’t a fan of the reticle. The three dots in the horseshoe throws me off for an aiming point. Also the reticle was faded /did not always appear nice and crisp. Sometimes it would get blurry on me unless I had my head in the exact right spot.

I’m gonna return it but if they were to fix the reticle or change it to maybe a crosshair style, this thing would be a no brainer.

  2. Monstrum Tactical is making some really nice FFP & SFP's, with their Spectre & Banshee series. they are always coming out with something new! they also have different reticle options, for their lpvo's Prism's, & Red dots. they did a lpvo comparison against a $1k+ Sig lpvo I forget which though.. Anyways if you haven't already used any of their optics they may be worth checking them out!
