BART police arrested a man on Christmas Eve after he boarded a Richmond-bound train with an AR-15-style rifle and was “bothering other passengers.”

  1. 10” barrel rifles without stocks are classified as “pistols” according to the ATF, despite being able to shoot 5.56 / .223. It’s like your car legally being a tricycle now if you drive it without a wheel.

  2. Yep, technically a pistol. Short barrel, no buttstock. Same receiver, same bullet, just made to be fired with arm extended. It's silly, but it's the way our overlords classify these things.

  3. Its still based off an ar platform. I think its considered a pistol if the barrel is under 10" inches and over is a short barreled rifle but idk. It gets kind of confusing. I know if it dosent have the butt plate is considered a pistol so I'd call it an AR pistol . With a pistol brace its a way to get around the sbr tax stamp.
