Well its just my time to have some issues. I got in the CMMG MK47 and it felt like it was going to be a champ. I got it out on the range and within the fist several hundred rounds the rail failed completely disabling the rifle. Although I was loving how he CMMG MK47 was running it was dead for the day. CMMG sent out a part to fix the rail so I got it back on the range and again within several hundred rounds the retaining clip for the rail was shearing off. Another mag or two and no doubt it would have had another catastrophe.

  1. Bummer on the string of bad luck.Think of it this way – you are doing a public service getting the small number of 'bad' 'out of spec' units, so we don't have to! 😉 I have the dissent in 300blk and just love it. I am confident CMMG will stand by yours.

  2. Sorry for bad luck. The stock looks like it is similar to "IWI Carmel." That rifle is also a gas piston, short stroke rifle so no buffer tube. IWI has a lot of history with gas piston in lots of calibers. The Carmel is only in 5.56 NATO but it's new so I suspect 7.62×39 and 5.45×39 will be out soon. Galil rifles have been around for a while in multiple calibers. I don't know if Carmel has a bottle opener.

  3. If I had money to blow I’d buy one only because it’s just cool Ak/ar. Other than that it needs a little more user time to find the errors. Sorry about your DD I know that hurt a lot of peoples feelings. 😂

  4. I didn't realize that the CH was on the rail. That is way too much stress on that small part. Look at geissele or aero's rails, they have moved past this outdated design.

  5. It’s so cute watching AR guys doing barbaric 10 second reloads 😂
Sorry you’re having issues, glad you didn’t buy!
Have had a cmmg mutant that has been wonderful from the time it came out and is still a beast!
    Great video

  6. For such a simple part even if CMMG doesn’t upgrade to a better steel any machine shop should be able to make you one out of whatever material you want…which shouldn’t be required or your responsibility but if you like the rifle enough it would be worth it.

  7. No matter who the manufacturer is, they all have issues here and there. But (!), whatever the problem might be with this rail, CMMG is known for taking care of its customers. A couple of years ago I had a scray-ish out-of-battery donation on a 5.7×28 by CMMG, but they jumped right on it and had it fixed. I haven't had any issues since. Please keep us in the loop on how this goes.

  8. Never thought rails would be held by such a small piece of metal. Hoping that issue is addressed design wise and not simply replaced with another part. Was really close to buying a Mk47D. Going to hold off until this issue is resolved

  9. It's as simple as using a higher quality steel in the shear lock. They should have done this to begin with, and for the price of these things… it's unacceptable. I own a CMMG Banshee 9mm and love it, but 9mm doesn't cause this type of failure. The engineering team will be bummed to see this. Especially if they tried to convince the financial team to put a higher cost/more appropriate material in this version. The problem is likely this… They use this identical piece in all of their offerings, and it's simply cheaper to re-use than make a specific, stronger version for this offering. Well CMMG… now you need to upgrade this piece and back feed it into all lower level offerings to insure that manufacturing will never put the wrong one in this baby.

  10. Im a machinist and I'm already seeing Dollar signs for who ever makes an aftermarket lug that isn't some crappy mild steel. If you made that thing out of a higher grade of steel, and made it to fit tighter in that groove I bet you stop seeing this issue.
