Today, the Tennessee General Assembly adjourned sine die from its 2023 special legislative session on public safety, and we are pleased to announce that all gun control legislation failed. One firearm-related bill passed, Senate Bill 7085/House Bill 7012, which exempts the retail sale of firearm safes and firearm safety devices from sales and use taxes beginning November 1, 2023. Although there were numerous anti-gun bills introduced and an attempt to force through several ineffective gun control measures, the General Assembly stood firm to defend Tennesseans’ Second Amendment rights.
We urge all NRA members and Second Amendment supporters in Tennessee to contact their state senators and representatives to thank them for protecting your Second Amendment rights!
The NRA will return to Nashville for the next legislative session in 2024. Please stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for further updates.
