  1. it is one thing to know it is another to be able to clearly and concisely put that knowledge across, or teach it. you did both. the ancient Greeks said you do not truly know something, you are not a master of this or that unless you can teach it. Thanks.

  2. I recently bought a lever 30-30 and actually bought the same Vortex Diamondback HP scope you are showing here. I read the directions about parallax, but it was all foreign to me being a first time scope user. I managed to zero it in or so I thought. After watching your video and reading the comment about a new hunter shooting all over the place, I just realized I can do better. I did have my parallax setting on 100 yards with this scope and I was zeroing in at 100, so I may not be that far off, but now that I truly understand parallax the way you just explained it, I will go again and use this knowledge. I saved your video for future reference as well. Thank you for taking the time for explaining this for new people like me. Knowledge is only good if you’re willing to teach others!

  3. I saw this video for the first time the other day. A friend of mine showed it to me and basically told me that it is a very simple way to understand what parallax AKA side focus was all about and what the purpose of it was. Because I didn't get it I just saw this little black thing flip up in front of me on the reticle and at first I'm thinking to myself… Okay maybe this is just designed for me to get a sight picture quickly clearly seeing that very dark vertical line on the lower half? And he's like yeah I know that's not its purpose but you don't understand what I'm trying to tell you so just watch this video…

So I watched it twice to make sure I wasn't comprehending what was being said in a very simple manner. And I got it. Immediately I grabbed a couple of my daughters and we went back to the only place in central New Hampshire where I can get a 500-yard shot off…

I took the cap off of The parallax adjustment knob, used a shooting stick which I almost never use but to hell with it I figured I would give it a shot this time figuratively and literally speaking. And once I comprehend it in thoroughly understood the definition of parallax and its application with that little dial it all fell into place and they were dead ringer shots one after another. Without fail.

This takes a simple concept and keeps it simple. Unlike lots of the other videos with graphs and diagrams and just way over explaining something so damn easy to understand. I do appreciate this video it has made all the difference. My only concern with this parallax adjustment is that what's a you're out hunting. You got everything set up for I don't know two hundred yards. But you've got a scope that will allow you to reach out and touch something to 500 yards…

With the scope that I have… The parallax adjustment is on the left side and there's a thin metal cap covering the parallax adjustment knob just like the elevation and windage knobs. So getting a lightning-fast parallax adjustment out in the field doesn't seem to be very realistic.

Unless I've missed something here and by all means if I have I would appreciate it if somebody would fill me in.

To the author of this video thank you very much. I greatly appreciate such a simplified to the point explanation. 🇺🇸🇺🇸

  4. Like the useful info
    Informative, entertaining, useful info.
I think to much of anything doesn’t really help your channel. Time for everything, but only doing livestreams or long talks doesn’t help.

  5. Being a new shooter, this was very valuable. There are times when I need to shoot at 20 and others at 150, so I am happy to be taught how to adjust the parallax.

  6. According to the guy that cerakoted my parallax dials: "they are not needed, your scope works great", when I told him not to coat them, and he also coated my zoom dials. Rest in peace scope buddy, I will miss you

  7. I overheard a salesman at the gun counter at Bass Pro shops today tell a guy that the parallax knob was used as a range finder. He told them that you turn the knob until the target is clear and then whatever number it lands on would be the range of the target. I wanted to let the people know that was completely false, but I wanted to mind my own business. Who knows if the salesman thought that was correct or just selling them BS on purpose. I got a good laugh out of it but at the same time felt bad for the customer.
