  1. They are definitely just as good if not better than older models. The technology alone going into the production is much better… materials are lighter and stronger, the technology behind the machining itself is more advanced than ever and more precise… don’t matter if you know where the parts are coming from or not, don’t matter what you “prefer”, don’t matter what you think… The facts are the facts and anything built today is just as good as before if not better. Your personal opinions and preferences doesn’t determine any of that, and actual functionality and reliability IS WHAT MATTERS! Do you can assume all you want but the fact is they are just as well built as before. And to you AR groupies and fanboys that think y’all know everything, it only takes 10 minutes to research and figure it out 😂 but y’all seem like y’all can’t read or don’t have the ability to do your homework. And I just bought a brand new AR pistol made by Colt just two months ago and I put 1800 rounds thru it since and haven’t gotten a single issue except when o tried to fire it without any lube at all as a personal experiment to prove something to somebody else. Colt of today are just as quality as the firearms they did 50 years ago. I personally prefer an AK over an AR and I definitely shoot my AK’s a lot more often, but I’d be happy if got stuck with either for the rest of my life. AR’s are finicky and stubborn, AK’s just shoot no matter what you feed em or how much you punish them, they still fire! Colt is always gonna be one the all time “go-to” preferred AR’s. Mil-Spec is Mil-Spec so it don’t even matter honestly.

  2. I won't buy a new one and I'm a Colt snob.
I think the newest one I bought was 2013?
All the other Colts I own are older than that. Pickings are slim now as most won't sell an older Colt at all. Lucky to have what I have.

  3. Unfortunately, since they lost the soul-source contract, they closed down essentially the entire production line. The Colt building in Hartford Connecticut is now just an assembly line of contracted parts. They've been very vague and secretive on their QC department. So we have no idea where most parts are coming from, and if the QC checks are anywhere near as good as before. 6920s used to have to absolutely meet milspec. Nowadays, we really just don't know. Does any of this mean the rifles are inherently lesser in quality? No. What it means is, we have absolutely no idea what we're buying anymore.

  4. As much as I love Colt from back in the day, they fell close to the depths of Remington. Personally, I feel like anyone buying any Colt AR today is paying 30-40% more just for the name. You can get the same or even better quality out of another AR for hundreds $$$ less.
